Wednesay's teaser pic is early

I found this on the Ford 2010 Mustang site; a couple of days early. It looks like we are getting a 5sp manual, and not a 6sp. Maybe the 6sp is coming with the 5.0 in 2011.

If thats the shifter for the new 2010, it looks just like the 08 Bullit shifter. So much for the bullit being original. Seems to happen often, once something was unique, then they mass produce and then its not unique, its like everyone else's.

I have a feeling that the Bullitt involved a lot more of the 2010 than we realize.

Well, if there are no powertrain upgrades, I hope we at least get 3.73s then?

Looks good anyway..

Same sort of deal with things like the bullitt wheels, and a bunch of little things here and there over the years. What was once only on one special model eventually trickles down to all the rest

I think you're right. I wouldn't expect any powertrain changes, such as the transmission, until the 5.0L engine is released in MY 2011.

I have owned a few 6 sp cars, never really saw the need for a double overdrive. The '90 Vette I had actually slowed down in 6th b/c it was a .50 ratio. Even at 70mph the engine lugged in 6th.

I am not up to snuff on all the 6 speed data, but I also don't get the great deal. Many 6 speeds have the same final ratio (or close) as a 5 speed, the other gears are just closer or lower to make it take off quicker. Not good for the quarter mile'ists out there as it usually necessitates one more gear change. At 70 my 05 is just under 2000rpms anyway, much lower and I think the engine would lag.

From the pic it looks like there is a leather shift boot this time around. Also looks like some cheap hard plastic on the side console similar to the material on current model's top dash.

Even so, it looks to me like a significant improvement over the current model...

I thought the final drive on the current stang was .62 or somthing.

If they did go with a .5 final they could allow for a shorter rear end gearing and not take a hit on gas mileage.
