V6 vs V8

We mustang enthusiasts Iove these debates. They are great. Of course what model years V6 is the OP referring too. Prior too 2011, the V6 were slow and V8 all the way.

Starts out decent, but won't end well. Old topic debated over and over again. Just let it be.

I like seeing all the loaded V-6 Mustangs on the road. But I specifically bought my base GT b/c it was such a deal for the 5.0l and I'd been wanting a nice V-8 for so long. I'd have no problem buying the 6 for my wife or kids or recommending it to someone, though. These are great times when the "base" motors of muscle cars are 300+ hp.

It's really a dumb question to be honest. Why would you NOT want a v8 really? BUT you should get what you can afford and what fits your lifestyle. v8 > v6. I got a 2011 GT at a steal of a price and wouldn't have been able to afford one if i didn't find it at this price point. Would have I settled for a v6? I'm not to entirely sure. But I have respect for ALL mustang owners. v8 or not. The v6 is impressive for what it is.
for me. My progression was simple
4 banger honda -> v6 fusion -> v8 mustang. Now i need to find a v10

If anyone is looking for a 2014 301A GT with Tech/Track Packs and Recaros, Bowen Scarff Ford in Kent, Washington has a bunch, in various colors, priced at $27,500. If you wanted to get a loaded V6 over that, by all means go right ahead. The V6 is a good car and sounds decent. But if you want the V8 noise and ridiculous power for the street, give Brian (Five Oh Brian) a PM or give them a call.

Well, I love my v6. Probably because it is the first new car I have owned, most powerful and my first mustang. Would I trade up to a 5.0 if I could right now? No and there are many reasons some being cost but another would be emotional. I don't want to give up my baby. We are all mustang guys and we love our cars. I do not like that some people with 5.0s even where I live, look down upon the v6 mustang owners. Even Ford is tossing the v6 mustang to the side and putting a turbo 4 ahead of the v6. Well the plan for me is to modify my sixxer into an autocross beast then years from now perhaps if money and situations permit... twin turbos and forged internals . Why? Because mustang that's why. Enjoy your rides everyone. No one is better or worse than the other because we are all a family of Mustang owners!

There's a few nice 6ers in my area and I always give them thumbs up. Did the same in my 03 GT. Did the same in my 00 V6. My next Mustang, however, will have snakes on the fenders and I cannot promise that it won't turn me into a bag of douche

What erks me is the folks that don't know that the V6 was revised in 2011. For instance, I had one guy say my old v6 "wasn't bad." However, he went on to brag that he had a big old powerful V8 in his stock 99 GT...blah blah..and that was a real muscle car strictly because of the v8. I immediately thought of my grand Cherokee v8 and tried not to smile.
After all, the guy was cutting my hair!

This isn't the 60's, 70's and 80's anymore. Those era's are long long long gone. Modern V6 mustangs would murder the V8 mustangs of the 60, 70, 80, 90 and early 2000 model years. There is a newer breed of power boys and can't wait for the 4 banger eco boost too arrive.

Funny, I've never heard of a V6 Muscle car....
There's an old saying, "horsepower sells cars, torque wins races". Kona, I've seen your posts about 2011 3.7's having the same horsepower, but what about torque? Seems its down 40ft/lbs. No offense to you, but it seems that a V8 owner may have ruffled your feathers somewhere along the line, at least your posts come off that way.
As for "no replacement for displacement", it still holds true, and always will if the universe's physics don't change. The 3.7 V6 is essentially maxed out from the factory, right? I haven't seen aftermarket cams or heads for them that have any decent performance impact. Change the H/C of a 4.6 and lets see the H/C 3.7 stay up with it lol. Hell, do it to an old carbureted 289 or 427.
Any motor with forced induction can be fast, but can it be fast N/A? Not trying to knock V6 engines, but they'll never be like a V8. I would love to see a V6 with 400 ft/lbs. with no boost, but it'll never happen. That's why we have V8's.

I know this is an interesting concept to some, but some of us are happy with the power the V6 puts out. It's NOTHING like the V6's of the past, that were horribly under powered and bad on gas. It makes good power in stock form, and allows the driver to have some fun without dropping more money on a V8. if people want the V8 then that's just fine, and if people want to stick with the six then that's just fine too.
Some here don't seem to realize that a lot of folks DD their Mustangs, and a lot of folks don't want or need 420 horsepower for a daily driven car. It's great that the V6 offers a good compromise in performance for those folks, so they can get a car that still has some *****.
