oh god here we go....
but seriously, no one really buys the v6 INSTEAD of the v8. people seem to forget about the massive price difference lol. There are a few instances where someone buys a loaded 6 rather than a base 8 but thats about where the "choosing the v6 over the v8" ends.

I've owned both, both were/are great cars.
My V6 got really great fuel economy and was just the ticket for when I was commuting to work every day.
My current GT is just as great but in a different aspect, fantastic power instead of fuel economy, although the GT fuel economy isn't bad considering the power.
All depends on what you want out of it as to which car to choose.

Both are great choices. I owned a new 11 V6 for three years before trading in on a gently used 12 GT.
In all candor, I couldn't swing the GT at the time so I got the V6.
Both cars did not and do not disappoint. Please don't ask me to say which is better. They are two VERY different cars.

Ditto here, had a 2012 v6 with performance package and it was very fast, handled well and got decent mpg's....the v8 just takes it to the next level...the power seems endless.....I get about 4 mpg less than I did with the v6 and my insurance didn't go up that much. Both cars were just for fun, only driven once and a while on clear days and stored from mid October to late March early April. Got about 850 miles on my 14 GT so far and it's a blast. Plus, being silver, it is SO MUCH easier to keep clean and stay clean. I will never own a black car again......

Our Mustang is the Wifey's. When we went to test drive she decided that the V6 would be fine with her. I talked her into driving the V8, and she quickly changes her mind. So, once again you should drive both. That's the only way for you to get the answer your looking for. We can tell you all types of info., but it won't give you the answer you really need.
I will say that I owned a '11 F-150 with the 3.7L engine for two years. It was a tough little SOB, and the engine would absolutely scream. It would move that big truck down the road quickly.

Personally if I couldn't afford a V8 variant, I'd probably buy another car. To me, a muscle car has to be a V8; in fact I'd rather have a 225hp older GT than a newer, 300 hp V6.
But god bless the V6 folks, because without them there'd be no V8 models anyway since the V6 models are the volume sellers.

I don't know, the current V6, especially with the performance package would run circles around the old 5.0...I had an 87 GT and my 12 would have run away from it. The only thing favoring the old 5.0 would have been the sound.....

Flame suit on. I wouldn't trade my old 11 V6 for a 10 GT. Once again just my opinion. No offense to anyone.

Just stating the facts!!! You can look up the times...now I will give my opinion, I thought my 87 was butt ugly ( even the interior) compared to the 11 through 14's!!!!!

I bought my '14 V6 for many of the reasons already stated. For me, it's a daily driver and I wanted something that got me the MPG on regular fuel. I also got a lot of extras on my V6 that I couldn't afford with a 5.0 under the hood and have fun driving her every day.
Don't regret my decision one bit...

I have an 11 V6 and absolutely no regrets buying it over a V8 model. I purchased my 2011 back in October 2010 and was looking for the power of the 2010 V8 but only willing to spend V6 price tag. That was an easy fix with the 2011 V6. Power of the 2010 V8 with V6 price tag.

I love my V6. If I could've afforded the V8 I'm not sure I would've bought it. It's nice and all, but IMO too much power for a daily driven car, and if it were a weekend car I'd buy something different.
I got my V6 with performance and tech packages for just under $22,000 out the door. Can't beat that price.

And "Go UC!"... Spent some time there in the early 80s... Good school... Actually lived in the now-demolished Sander Hall as a freshman - the year they has the fire there...

The growl.... The power.....
I really like the V8 power. It's so addicting.....that I'm actually looking cross eyed at the super chargers now, lol
Gas mileage isn't too bad. 17-18 around town. 23 on highway doing 70-80. Coming from a truck getting 13..... 18 is great!

Lol. Finally someone got the UC avatar. I graduated last year from UC, the place has changed A LOT since the 80s. I actually stayed in the dorm that sits where they demolished Sanders.

As others have stated, both the V6 and the V8 are great cars! I had an 11 pony package and traded it for a base 14 V8. I was totally content with the power of the V6, as well as it's fuel economy once I had all my mods! I got 32 on the highway and it sounded good. However, as good as it sounded, it never would sound like a V8, which is the biggest reason why I wanted the 5.0. Not to mention, I was running out of things to mod on the sixer, the eight just has a much bigger market for that kind of stuff.
Before I forget, my V8 got 27.8 on the highway driving through the Adirondacks. This was with just axlebacks! No tune or anything else. The city is where you burn through the gas a little bit faster.
I love both cars differently, hope this helps!
