Has anyone with a 3.7 done resonator delete with only a catback or axlebacks? How's the sound? Also are the stock cats considered to be hi-flo?

Stock cats flow as good as any aftermarket performance cat. Besides, I'd leave them on anyhow, as local laws are over ruled by federal laws. It's a very expensive fine to get caught operating the vehicle on a public road without them. Plus, you cannot sell the vehicle, or trade it in without cats. They can come after you. My son sold a 2004 Subaru STi WRX to a private individual, whith the usual "as is" warranty. Two weeks later he was served papers, stating he had two options: buy the vehicle back at the sold price, or install cats at his cost. The person who bought the car attempted to register it out of state where they had an emmisions check. If he refused either of the two options, he would have to pay a 30K fine!

He bought the car back, installed cats, and kept it.

Ok thanks, the reason I asked is not because I was gonna run without cats but because I wanted to see if it was worth it to get the BBK x-pipe w/ hi-flow cats to go with my shorty headers or jus install the Ford racing x-pipe and keep my stock cats.

I have a friend in NC that is making payments on his 1500 dollar fine for have other than OEM Cats on his F150, that was after he put the stock cats back on.
I am running the FRPP cut and clamp X-Pipe with my shorties along with Borla Touring A/B, and to me it sounds good, but I was not looking for a lot of noise on my DD either.

saw you guys anwsered his questions regarding cats.... but what about the resonators? has anybody had a resonator delete with along with aftermarket axlebacks?

i have S-type borla axle backs and im wondering if i can make it louder, but not make it sound like crap, by deleting the resonators/ or geting the over the axle pipe replaced

Through research and asking other 11+ V6 owners removing the resonators will make it slightly louder but will increase the drone in the car as they were mainly put there to combat that. I haven't had a chance to hear it for myself and the exhuast shop that put in my x-pipe told me technically they are not suppose to mess with them b/c to cut them out they would cut that weld right there at the cats but he didn't say he wouldn't do it. I still haven't decided if I will do it or not. Probably won't, I think the headers will be all will do. It sounds great now with the res still in and the stock headers!

never mind what I said about over axle pipes.. I was way off lol. finally saw the resonators location. So if one were to buy that catted bbk X-pipe, or the catted MRT H-pipe, wouldn't that also get rid of the resonators?

BTW, I have heard removed on an otherwise stock car(only CAI), it doesn't sound all bad, could use some cleaning up in the tone, but its definitely LOUD. I don't know how drone would get though, only heard it from the outside
