V6: $21,455

Edmunds.com has the 2011 Mustang V6 listed with an MSRP of $21,455 plus $825 destination for a total of $22,280. Volume Ford dealers are selling these cars for around invoice, so you should be able to buy one for $21k. This is an outstanding deal for a car with 305 horsepower.

I think it is very possible. From what I remember the MSRP from the '04 model to '05 model was only around $100 or so and that change was much more significant. They will probably increase the price a little bit every model year so it balances out like they did for 05-09.

What a steal! At that price, these might be low enough to consider in a few years as my first Mustang.

Or I buy an '05-'09 GT... Or a '96-'98 GT and supercharge....

Did you notice the banner over the stock photo that reads: "Target Launch: Spring 2010. Pricing & Specs on these pages are edmonds.com's expectations."

A supercharged 98 is a slow POS and will have less HP than a stock 11' V6.

The most recent MSRP for a 2010 Mustang V6 (base model, no options) including D&D is $22,245. Invoice is $21,325. Current rebate (at least in our region) is $1,500. 2010 Mustangs are easily invoice or less, so you can find a new 2010 Mustang V6 under $20K. 2011 won't have rebates initially, and I suspect MSRP will be more than just a $35 bump vs the 2010, so I'd bet we're talking closer to $22K invoice for a base 2011 model.

If you really like the 94-98 style it is worth every penny to spend the extra cash on a 96-98 Cobra. Not only is the performance respectable for the money but the car is also much better looking than the GT.

I can say from experience of owning an early 2V 4.6 is that the car is probably the most trouble free, reliable car I've ever owned but is not much of a performance car.

+1. And the 96-98 SVT Cobras are getting really easy to find under $10K in nice shape.

Sweet

'94-'98 are my absolute favorite Mustangs. Cobra seems like a good idea too, did those come with the 4.6 4v?

Not in power, 193 hp vs 210 hp, and '04 was much lighter.

I think my '00 Mustangs weights around ~3,000 lbs.

That would be a great price all things comsidering but I would expect like a $200-300 price increase.

A low price, the 11'v6 will have a new suspension and big brakes for a 305hp?

Keep in mind the price difference between GTs was about the same too and HP difference for the V8 was 40HP. Even though the power difference is bigger it should not cost more than an entire new platform like the new for '05 model.

Also keep in mind Ford has to keep this car priced low since it has competition from Chevy and Dodge now. In '10 the Camaro was already pretty close in price with the Mustang. I seriously doubt that the Mustang will end up costing more than the Camaro. As much as I hate to admit it I'm glad the Camaro is back, it forced Ford to give us the best Mustang lineup in History!

Yeah they do. 300hp stock, and ive got a feeling thats underrated. I've seen those cobras running high 12s with nothing more than gears, shifter and tires

94-95 Cobra: 5.0L OHV V8

96-98 Cobra: 4.6L DOHC V8

Neither engine was rated at 300HP.

For the sake of nitpicking, I can't burst your bubble... But on principle I sure can! '96 Cobra - 305hp
