Actually she would Approve, as I do not intend to use any of my Credit cards, Home Equity line, etc. So other than an inquiy my excellent fico score won't get dinged!!! On what I'm using the money on wise guy:-)

Yeah, I was just breaking your *****, too. I don't care what you do with your money.

As a bunch of people who bough $30k-$40k toys, I don't think any of us have financial "high ground."

Yeah, I try to prentend that it's at least somewhat practical and justifiable but there is no way to deny that these cars are represent a less than disciplined financial decision.

While I certainly agree here, I also tend to disagree a little.

So long as the purchase doesn't put you financially under water. Meaning you are still putting money away, you are still able to meet all other monetary obligations etc, I don't see it as a huge deal.

I've had many hobbies in my time and every single one of them can get horribly expensive. Cars are my main hobby and they bring me a great deal of joy. It's hard to put a price tag on that. So, I'm okay with purchasing something a little more to the want side of things instead of the need side of things.

I'd certainly rather be spending my money on a nice mustang than a run of the mill civic or camry.

good point . . . but . . . mine actually is not a "toy", it is my daily driver . . . if you gotta have a car to get back and forth to work, why not have some fun while you're at it? The mustang really isn't an expensive car, as cars go these days, and even the gas mileage is halfway respectable. (I get 27+ on my commute, that's better than my old Toyota Avalon and within striking distance of my newer Camry)

So, whadaya think -- could I convince Suze?

Probably not. She'd probably tell you to sell both and buy a Prius...

I say you sell it to the guy that said 1 million dollars and offer it to him at a 20% discount. Missed you at breakfast.

The value most dealers will use is the major auto auction sales. Manhiem is one of them. Its the best way to see what all the dealers are paying wholesale for these cars. There is plenty believe it or not on the sales results page. Like the above guys said, upper 20's is exactly what they will offer you and see when you trade it in. Retail for used is gonna be low 30s
