Upgraded to SYNC 4.2.1.4 - not impressed
As per TSB 13-9-22 my dealer upgraded my SYNC today.
I have an iPhone 5 running IOS 7.
The Good - my Text Message list now shows CallerID in the list this used to always be UNKNOWN. This was one of the fixes listed in the TSB. Yeah.
The Same - the break-in alert still shows UNKNOWN as the callerid .. even though you can switch to the list and it is correct there. Duh ...
The Sucks - You still cannot compose, reply or SEND a message from SYNC. It fails.
Seriously .. Ford/Microsoft .. who do you guys have testing this stuff for you before its released to the public?

I have to say that it is not necessarily Ford.....it could be the phone. I had a phone that took advantage of all those Sync Features but it is a Dinosaur in today's "Smart Phone" segment. See if you have an old Motorola Razr V3 of some variation and watch how those features work. Bluetooth in it's infancy........funny even the ringtone transferred over as well as text and caller ID data.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and an iPhone4 these days but if I can get my hands on an old Razr I will compare how these interface with Sync.
I have been playing with this stuff since 2008.
A lot has to do with Bluetooth protocols which the car industry does not have the largest influence unfortunately (although it should).

I agree on the phone being the culprit, when I had an android phone all the features worked as they should. Now I have an iPhone and and it's the complete opposite. It sucked so bad I just ended up turning off Bluetooth and not using sync with the phone
And yes being a 2011 owner, I'm stuck with 3.1.4.
