Uhhh. My dealer didn't ask for a copy of driver's license?

Here's the thread I've been looking for. According to this, California is the only state that an ID (driver's license) is not required to place a retail order.

Looked at my buyer's order, it says: ORDER TYPE 1.
Found this:
So somehow I got a retail order without a driver's license.
Found this:
Stock- Unsold orders for dealer inventory. Order type 2
Retail- Sold orders, have a customer name assigned to them in the system. These also usually have price protection in case of an increase. Stock units don't. Its an order type 1 in the system (or A, X, K for the weird order types)

Hey bud, sorry for the delay in reply. Its hectic here and I can't be on the computer 24/7. If they used the Retail Order Verification, you NEED to give them a DL and they have to upload it and submit it. Without it, the order will be "Pending" and "On Hold" until they get it. That is the way the program works. It has worked flawlessly for the people on here who ordered from me.

You don't need to go through the order verification process but they should. It is better for you and for them. They can place a retail order but it won't get scheduled until the week that they have available allocation and assuming there are no commodity conflicts that week. With the order verification process allocation becomes a non factor in the equation.

I think I'm starting to understand. I still have a RETAIL order but it is going to be counted against my dealer's allocation and won't get the same priority as a RETAIL ORDER VERFICATION? Uh oh.

my salesman asked for and made a copy of my license when i spec'd the car
i ordered on 3/30 and received a VIN on 4/02 from my salesman
i just called the 800# and the rep asked me to verify all my personal info which means to me that they had an ID attached to the VIN
build date of 5/04 and an ETA of 5/15

Called salesman and relayed the information that Jeff and Paul so wonderfully provided. He asked me to put it in writing and send it to his GM so the GM could find out what I had.
I have this sinking feeling I was put in as a regular retail order and not 'retail order verification'....

In fairness, they may not even know. The guy I ordered my car from said I was the first retail order he'd put down in five years.
So if they ask for your name/zip/address then they have an ID attached through Retail Order Verification? Huh, good to know, I always have to go through that when I call them, and I always wondered why.
Good luck with your car, man! Has the Ford CS number ever asked for your info?

Just got an email from the GM. He said he did not use retail order verification because he had the allocation available. He also said he sent my order number up to the regional Ford person to be pulled ASAP. If that is true then that's awesome!
He seemed a bit offended because I think he misconstrued my suggestion to "change it" as a threat to cancel my order, when I just meant change my order priority.

What do you mean? I think the GM means I will now get a priority under 10! Which is awesome. I think by their point of view they did everything fine: They had the allocation and gave me a retail order for it. Nothing to watch really until they get a VIN.
