TURNING OFF GAUGE DISPLAY
Sorry, but why would you want to? Yes, I've kinda do when I sort through my choices. Never think of leaving it off. I can't drive w/o looking @ my odometer & MPG, though. Just why I can't 'get' this. It's cool there's that option.
Why is it genius, though?
If it 'just is' to you guys, I get it! Just I can't wrap my head around what this does for anything. Sorry for my stupid-ness!!!!!

Try a heads up display. I had them on two Grand Prix GTX's. At night you could turn all the instrument lights off and everything was displayed on the HUD, appearing to be suspended in the air about 4" above and in front of the hood line. If you had a problem, that gauge would light up in Red. I became very spolied after using the HUD and really wish Ford had one on the Mustang. You never take you eyes off the road, for anything. Even the NAV was in the HUD.

im waiting for HUD on my motorcycle helmet
I do like the option; when I set the MyColor to Red/Red, the bright turquoise display looks jarringly awful. Turning it off makes the dash look much cleaner. If that display changed with the MyColor, that would be cool too (not to mention the center stack..).

Mines off all the time...
Mines off all the time too. I just wait until "50 miles to empty" or the info that my oil is due for a change. I don't need to know how far I've gone and how many MPG's it took me - so what I say
