Angry Trunk won't open!

Took my car out today and opened the trunk with my remote, closed trunk fully and went to open it again and remote would not open it and interior trunk button doesn't work either. both remotes did not work. tried disconnecting battery to reset and that did not work. Is there something else I can do before I take it to dealer. Its a 2012 GT. "Trunk ajar" light is on also.

You may have something stuck in where it latches. Try folding down your back seats and going in to your trunk and try pulling the emergency release cable. it has a neon (yellow/greenish) plastic T attached to it, pull that and hopefully that opens your trunk.

No, no, no!!! If you are IN the trunk you can get it open and get out. But if you are OUTSIDE the trunk you can't get it open to get in. Seems like a design flaw.

My '13 has had some trunk issues also. This morning I made a U-turn and as I'm making it the Trunk Ajar light popped on. I stopped, the trunk was closed.
I popped it open with the button on the console, pushed down on the latch button down next to the striker, and closed it.
Light went out and no more issues for the rest of today.

I'd love to see if other people are having a repair done for these issues ...

That's what you get for doing U-turns on 2 wheels...

At least your defroster vents didn't pop out.

I have had the "Trunk Ajar" warning come on a couple of times for no apparent reason. It sounds like it may be some type of inherent issue that needs a TSB since so many people seem to be having it.

So I have a 2014 Mustang and my trunk won't open unless I use the emergency release. The trunk won't open from the key or the inside of the car. What's the problem?

Ok so I had the exact same problem. I read this post about 3 weeks ago. What I did to fix the problem was pull back the interior material covering the trunk actuator. I pulled the quick connect out and could tell pretty fast it was not locked in well. Pushed the connector back in and it works like it is supposed to now. I guess it worked it's way out. Hope that helps.

Trunk problem on 2016 mustangs

The answers is a wire on your trunk lid there a wire that runs to the latch if it pulled too tight it will break and cause it not to work
Just had mine fix and I ask what cause the problem and this is what I was told luckily it was still under warranty

My trunk makes a loud ratcheting noise when I hit the button. Sometimes it's a short burst, sometimes is a lot longer but it only seems to do it when it's really cold outside. I figure I'll be needing to replace that mechanism in the near future. Is there an actual name for the unit? Also, is this a dealer only item or are there other suppliers? Sorry if this is hijacking the thread but since the OP hasn't responded (I hope he's not stuck in his trunk) I figured it would be OK. Thanks.
