If anything makes any sense to me it was the news article that said Ford had to temporarily shut down both AAI and Wayne because of parts shortages due to airflights from Europe being delayed because of the volcano in Iceland. If those flights were carrying SYNC modules then it ties together. Ford employees on other websites have said Mustang shipping delays were related to SYNC. It is even possible that cars were built and stockpiled without the modules only to have them installed as they were received. If you consider a missing part a quality issue then it could even qualify as a quality hold.
As for certain models or certain option packages shipping earlier than others that could be explained by the fact that Ford probably builds batches of similar cars together. That would seem to be more efficient than building every car drastically different from the one before or after. If the build order was V6, GT500, GT with auto trans, GT with manual trans, etc. that might explain why they arrived at dealerships in about the same order.

My car is still held down there for no apparent reason... it has the status "AWAITING SHIPMENT" since almost 3 weeks now...

Maybe FILO (first in last out) is reality !

I heard Michigan was boycotting parts from Arizona. They have to sneak them over the border to Mexico, and then they board charter flights to Michigan.

That's what I heard from a border guard that stopped some white guys headed the wrong way with a bunch of computer parts in duffle bags.

I heard Mexican's still use lead solder in their circuit boards so the EPA is now involved.

Sorry folks I know this is getting old and upsets some of you, also
I know I will get my car when it comes in and not a minute before, but
there is a hold on some cars. My gt/cs built 4/13 last updated 4/22 drew
attention to the customer care person and said someone who investigates
these things would call me back. They called and there is a hold!!! I have
a case number and these cars wont be released until 5/24. I was promised
a call 5/25 with the status of my car. Perhaps cars off the line now are
getting shipped but there is a batch with "issues".

Does it really matter? No one can do anything about it anyway. You get the car when you get it. All this worring is not going to speed anything up.

Shaun is usually pretty accurate with his info but I'm sorry, I'm not going to accept for one minute that the Mustang chief engineer is "publicly" releasing information to the average consumer. Nope. Add to that the fact that cars have been delayed and the info from cougar above. If Ford employees were to say, "Yeah, we've got some issues that need to be resolved but we're on top of it" the media would find out and the headlines would read, "Ford production slowed due to quality issues". That's the LAST thing they want right now.

No offense to Shaun. He had an amazing once-in-a-lifetime unique experience at AAI but I don't think they are using him as the Public Relations conduit.

I am not "worried" about it. I have vehicles to drive and if I have to wait, sobeit.
I am trying to provide info for folks who might have sold a car or have leases due
etc who might want to know. I also wonder since my car has been sitting for 6
weeks if they are trying to reverse engineer a fix, cant get at the part to change,
or who knows maybe it is something as simple as vandals hitting a bunch of cars.
I hope I am not handing a dealer near 40k (gt/cs vert manual trans with many options)
for a car that has already been partially disassembled once. Time will tell and I am sure
I will love the car regardless.

So when checking the status of your car over the last few weeks, had it been assigned to a "ramp" like many of us ... I.E. ramp 51, 5P, 5M, etc ??

Just wondering if any of thes "ramps" could be QC holding areas instead of "ready to be shipped ramps" as we all assume.

How did you determine that it was at ramp 51?

All they tell me is "in transit" and my dealer says the transport company has it as "awaiting scheduling".

I called this morning and my GT/CS still has an ETA of 5/7 and is "In Transit". Did anyone else get "In Transit" without any ramp number or any other tracking information? I feel like In Transit means they are counting the rotation of the earth in the car's travel and it's still sitting in the lot at AAI.

corvettedreamin I feel like our cars have the same fate. What was your ETA and build date?
