+1 Giugiaro Mustang, Pretty ugly. I wouldn't even call that piece of crap a mustang. No offense, but I don't like it. Oh well, It is driving me nuts to see this 2010. I know whatever Ford does, it will be sweet!

There are aspects of the concept I still don't like, but as Topnotch has shown, with a little work, it could become a truely stunning road car. The curves and hips on that thing are to die for.

However, it also takes more than being a car designer's son. Just compare the work of Giorgetto Giugiaro ( Alfa GTV, DeTomaso Mangusta ) with that of his son Fabrizio, who was the designer of the Giugiaro Mustang. Talent is not a genetic given.Anyone can do a one-off concept car ( and Fab did it poorly, in my opinion. ) it takes special talent to develop a good looking car over existing mechanicals, federal safety and impact regulations, lackluster engineering, and with no funding from a cash-strapped company. Of course I am biased, since I am a former designer and my friend is a current designer.

Again, no disrespect to you, topnotch.

With all do respect to topnotch's abilities, you need more than Photoshop skills to be a car designer. Car Design is not done by drawing over existing photographs- in fact, most of the work is done in clay with aluminum foil overlayed to see the shape and black tape to adjust lines. The photo-realistic Photoshop renderings are done afterwards to support the overall shape designed and refined into clay.
As he says, yes, all car designs begin as rough sketches ( called ideation ), then more finished sketches while each designer develops an idea ( called a "theme". ) After several sketch reviews w/ design execs, a few are chosen for clay models in scale ( 4/10 scale usually ) , or, if one "theme" is completely awesome, it could go into in a full-scale clay right away.
So now I must ask,TN, do you have any ideation, hand-drawn sketches to share? What's your background?

My apologies, but I happen to be in the minority who doesn't like the Guigario concept at all. IMHO the Guigario with it's overall stubby profile, and taller rear end. Seems to look more like a Hot Wheels/cartoon caricature of a disfigured 67-68 fastback. I also don't like the hip line being raised above the doorline, as this just exaggerates the high waisted beltline even further.
At any rate: I hope that I haven't offended anyone, for that wasn't my intention.

Topnotch, can you post the full size image you made so I can put it on my desktop? Maybe make it Grabber Blue?! That would be wonderful.
