Tire Spats

Okay, I give. Someone tell me what the tire spat is? I know it's supposed to improve aerodynamics, and I assume it's some kind of sculpted plastic piece around the rear wheels. But hard as I look, I can't see any difference between the 2010 and 2011 around the rear wheels. I'm just not seeing it.

It's the little black plastic flap hanging down in front of the rear wheel. Like a mud flap but on the wrong side.

Not sure how it helps aero though...

You are correct. My SVO has them, so do gen 2 Trans Ams. I don't see any spats on the 2010 or 2011 S197.

From what I can see, there is a extension behind the rear wheel opening that runs back along the bottom of the rear lower fascia. Apparently to enhance the airflow. On a 2010 picture I don't see this same extension.

As I understand it, the purpose of the spat is to keep air from "hitting" and getting "wrapped up" with the tire, by redirecting it to the side of the car.
