Just get Michelin xice xi2. Best winter tire in the snow, dry, super cold, slick, slush, heavy snow... I've had 2 winters worth and they are superb!!

As far as rims, check out tire rack?

Unless you intend to keep it forever, why would you want to winter store it and save it for the next guy?????

I'm actually looking for another set of Brembo wheels to use for winter. I have a scratch on one of mine, so it's making me want these to move the scratched wheel to the winter set. Still undecided on winter or a/s for me in Indiana. I'm leaning A/S.

If you're going the separate wheel and tire for winter route, there's absolutely no reason not to do a full fledged snow tire.

Remember, even on dry pavement, the snow tires will grip better in the cold weather. Especially in temperatures below 40 degrees.

Get a performance oriented tire like what blizzak makes. I've seen people do lapping events without too much issue on those tires.

On my 11, I've mounted Continental Extreme Contact DWS's and am very pleased with them after driving through last winter. They were every bit as good as the Michelins and considerably less expensive. I drive these tires year round and they hook up better than the stock Goodyears. I sold the Goodyears. Many of the GT500 people on the other forums took my advise and also bought the Continentals with very positive results. Use our collective experience and buy the Continentals. They are the best A/S radials available for these high HP cars. Check the customer reviews on the Tire Rack web site and you will see I'm right.
Fantastic advice. Thank you!

not a fan of AS in the winter. this seems to come up every year, but use winter tires in the winter especially if you get snow. i followed this advice in my rear heavy 911 and in my 2011 GT. no contest. AS is a pretty mediocre summer tire and a mediocre winter tire. they were made because car makers had no idea where a specific car would be used, so they went with a compromise tire for most models.

interesting thing i noticed to bring this discussion back the tire rack recommends 255/45 18s with the 18X8 F10 sport edition wheels they have as a package for brembo GT? The recommendations here were for 235/50s which i would be more inclined to go with. any reason for the disconnect?

I bought a complete set of rims (18" as tires are cheaper than 19") and a set of full snows in 255/45/18 ISO AS tires. I had no problems at all with tires or the car in the deep snow we had in my area at times.

I just had to be careful that 1. the rims would go over the Brembo brakes (not all 18" will) and 2. the lug spacing was correct.

I'm in the Seattle area where we get just a few snow days (just a trace to a few inches), but plenty of days well below 40 degrees, so the summer-only PZeros came off my car last week. On went my favorites: Continental Extreme Contact DWS's (Dry, Wet, Snow). I wanted to fill the wheel well with a higher profile tire to smooth out the ride, so I went with a very tall 255/50/19 on the factory Brembo Pkg wheels.

I ran DWS's on my supercharged '07 Mustang GT last winter and had no problems driving in the snow, except on the steepest of hills. Minor hills were fine (and we have lots of those around here). Of course, if the snow gets deep I'll just drive my wife's 4x4 Ford pickup.

Can't believe I missed this thread.

In the winter I run 18x9 GT500 replicas from American Muscle with Dunlop Wintersport M3s.

It's a great setup. The Wintersport M3s are a "performance" winter tire, so they are something you'd want if you valued dry (but cold) handling and light-medium snow performance. They do very well in light snow and are good up to about 5" of fresh snow before clearance ultimately becomes a problem.

I'm very happy with them and how they performed this past winter. The car is still very fun to drive when it's dry out and is even more fun when there's a bit of snow on the ground.

would 245/45/19s fit the brembo wheels as well? I want to put winter tires on my current 2010 this year AND most important be set up for the 2013 GT (with brembos) i intend to purchase in the spring. I have the 19in machined on my 2010.
This would allow me to use the brembo wheels as the snow wheels on the 2013 and get new rims for the summer rubber
I am weighing this vs going the separate 18in wheel/snowtire option. and sticking with the factory wheels for summer.

245/45/19's will fit the Brembo Package 19x9 wheels just fine, even though they'll be a little narrower than the 255's that Ford fits on them.

If anyone is interested, Yates Performance / Blue Oval industries have 17" take-off wheels for $550 (base) or $600 (V6 premium) and free shipping.

I just bought some and they're literally brand new.

Important to note that they come with Michelin tires (215/65/17) and not the BFG (225/60/17) listed.
