Those with non-stock rims.

Do any of you still keep the spare in your trunk? i mean i have 20's now and feel the spare is a bit pointless. I'm thinking of using that space for a sub.

I still keep my spare. Even though i too have 20s, the overall diameter is roughly the same, so my spare can still be used if need be.

Sub doesn't roll very well if you encounter a flat tire.

What do 20's have to do with whether you have a spare tire or not?

The size of the spare makes no difference since you only leave it on long enough to get the car to a place where the original tire can be repaired or replaced.

And if you are worried about the clutches in the rear, worse comes to worse, you can always swap it to the front.

But the clutches will stand up to a short drive with mismatched tire sizes, it's the same as when you turn the car, the clutches have to slip then just like they will with the spare on one side.

^^^^^^^^^^ +1

Put the spare on a front wheel and move a front wheel to the rear if you have to.

You can always take a chance with something like the tire mobility kit that comes in cars with no factory spare, ie; 12v air pump and a can of tire stop leak.

My overall question was to see if this was a good idea or not, since i haven't had to use the spare yet i didn't know if it was a viable option to use with a different size rim. my mistake.

and this

jump off a bridge, your comment wasn't needed. I guess i wasn't sure if a spare of different size was usable again since i've never had to go to those lengths.

Exactly what I would do, if Ford gave me a spare. I've always had the can of Ford's inflatable stuff, along with the tiny air compressor they supplied (back in 2011). I've had one flat, used their arrangement, and had them (Ford) foot the bill for the so called damaged tire pressure monitor. My arguement was that they supplied the inflator goo, so it was not my fault for following their directions to correct the flat. I bought a new can from the parts department so that I can claim this again should I get another flat.

Now if your Mustang came with a spare, I'd say you could not go this route and get away with it.

I take mine on long trips. if I get a flat there is always someone to bring me a spare or there is always a shop close enough where I can get it fixed right away. Its an extra 38 pounds to carry around

No spare here (track pack). I have Ford's standard tire warranty and my auto insurance includes tire insurance at no extra charge, so I don't worry about it.

Mustangs with "large brake" or large wheel options do not come with the stock 18" spare wheel/tire package. Those cars may come with the "inflator/tire sealer" package.

I have the CS with 19" wheels and mine came with a spare. Ask me how I know. 600 miles and I got a flat downtown Chicago. First flat I've had in 5 years but I'm happy I had the spare. Waiting for Roadside Assistance in Chicago during morning rush hour.........l would still be there waiting and this happened 2 weeks ago.

Speaking of spares, anyone have a line on a cheap spare for Brembo cars?

I should have also said it depended on the model year between 2011 and 2014. As an example, in 2011 the Mustang V6's (Premium) with the 18" wheel options didn't get spare tires but they did get the "inflator/tire sealer" package.
