You're either a ragtop person or not. Once I rode around in a friend's ragtop in high school, I always wanted one. Once I owned my own & sold it, I always wanted another.

Now, we have the ultimate American ragtop.

Yep pretty much. I had a 1998 Trans AM WS6 Convertible that I loved. But guess after riding motorcycles the wind in my hair isn't the same unless I'm on a bike.

That is a beautiful Shelby no doubt. However, it was your thread/s about the updates to your black mustang with all those punisher logos, etc right? I imagine that took some amount of $$$? Don't forget to add that to your list of costs you may not recoup, along with your trade in value. But if you can still afford the Shelby and are willing to accept those losses, by all means, go for it.

If I could live to drive it, I'd buy one. However, the Wifey is a really good shot.

I was in a very similar boat about 2 months ago. I sold my Porsche 911 4S cab. and had the cash on hand to pick up a very slightly used 2013 Shelby (already took an $7k dep. hit w/ only 5k miles) but after much thought, I ended up a new base track pack/recaro GT 4k under MSRP (thanks Koon's of VA). I love to tinker and realized that within a short period of time, I would have replaced so many parts on the shelby that it didn't make sense for me to pay a premium for stuff I'd be craigslisting anyhow. Lastly, I'm biased to turbocharged applications and didn't like the idea of essentially locking myself into an FI configuration.

That said, I believe the legacy of the Shelby alone makes it well worth its asking price. If I didn't like to tinker with my cars, the Shelby would have been the choice for me, no doubt about it.

Case in point, 54k for a 64k Shelby w/ 600 miles.

If I could avoid wife aggro, I'd already have one. Right now we have the 6, which she'll take over once student loans are cleared and I decide on which model I want. Who knows, maybe I'll find a used GT500 on the cheap, which she would have to pry my cold dead body from cause I would never leave it.

GT500 is my dream car, and if I can't have an original, I'd take a current one hands down.
