Think I'm going to go out to Royal Purple Raceway tonight...

Any others from the Houston area want to join me?

First trip to the track with my new GT, going to see if I can figure out how to stay off the rev limiter in first gear!

Well...

Got 5 runs in, could have done lots more, usually you can't get all the runs you want because someone blows up and oils the track but they had very few incidents out there and they were minor.

Of the 5 runs there are two that I will NOT be showing the time slips for, they were HORRENDOUS due to driver fail. I'll just say that terrible sounds and terrible shuddering happen when you are going full tilt and try to make the 3-4 shift and end up in 2nd...

Did a serious driver mod and pulled out three solid runs although I was a little unhappy that they weren't faster.

Weather conditions were horrible for getting decent runs, extremely hot and humid. Got out of the car when I got there and was almost instantly covered in sweat. Don't have any weather stats but the air was pretty bad. After talking with quite a few people, everyone was running 3-5 tenths off thier best times.

So, below are my runs, my good runs, don't ask to see the bad ones because I'm not showing them.

I did, at least, get a 12 second time, the night started out looking like I wouldn't.

On those first two time slips, I was riding the rev limiter through the traps in 4th, on the third I shifted into 5th.

Too much rain here so my track cancelled test-n-tune . Oh well, I have my bracket racing program tonight.

Those are good runs! Hitting 12 seconds without any mods is really difficult. You're on street tires too right? The MT is definitely challenging on the track. I did a full season of bracket racing last year in my V6 MT. They are nice because you can launch with such a higher RPM. But you end up spinning your tires the entire way down the track as long as you can actually hit that 3rd gear lol.

Really good runs there in high humidity and heat though.

Yup, my car is all stock except for the mufflers and on the oem pirelli's.

Also had extremely bad axle tramp launching and on the 1-2 shift.

Never had an issue with the 2-3 shift, perfect every time, just that 3-4 shift that needed the driver mod but after that it was no issue.

Can't imagine bracket racing one of these cars with a manual transmission, way too inconsistent.

One of the neat things about my track outing last night is that I left the house with the MPG readout showing 16.8, drove out to the track and ran my 5 runs and drove home. When I got home the readout was showing 18 mpg, ran down and filled it up a little while ago and it calculated out at 18.4 mpg.

Way back when I first had a 12 second capable car I was lucky to get half that gas mileage out of it.

New cars and modern technology sure are great!
