I was looking at a Corvette forum and found all this knowledge ford has been hiding about the 5.0

Like the chrysler hemi ford stole the block design from gm

The 5.0 has an unsleeved aluminum block like the 70's vega

the engine is very huge and incredibly heavy, which is why the mustang weighs over 4000lbs

the heads cost a fortune and trying to tune, replace, or fix four camshafts costs so much you should just sell the car.

why four camshafts, everyone knows ohv is the wave of the future

and the 5.0 produces no low end torque at all

Obviously a group of Corvette owners know what they're talking about and we don't, just don't point at their steering wheel and say "isn't that from a cavalier"

Oh and the 2011 Mustang 5.0 does NOT weigh 4000lbs, it is only 3600lbs, even in GT500 form with a 5.4 4v S/C'd engine the 2011 Mustang only weighs about 3,820, so dude, you are severly misinformed by those GM guys on the corvette site.

 

The info on this site is pretty good, but I find a lot of wrong info even on sites dedicated to Mustangs. Just today I ran across a recent thread on another Mustang site where someone claimed the 5.0 is a stroked version of the 4.6 with GT500 heads.

 

Is this meant to be a joke? Every magazine has had in depth information about the 5.0 and one of it's major goals was to keep weight down. In fact the 5.0 weighs the same as the outgoing 4.6. The mustang still weighs less than the sedan based Camaro.

Speaking of stealing ideas in 1967 GM stole Ford's idea of the pony car, In 2010 they once again copied the Ford pioneered idea of the retro muscle car.

I think the issue here is that there are a lot of die hard guys who seriously refuse to give others credit. Perhaps I'm seeing this through Ford goggles here but most Ford and Chrysler guys can give props to other makes and models but Chevy guys think that anything without a gold bow-tie is inferior.

I have family, friends and co-workers alike that have the same bold view. When the rumors came out about the 5.0 GM guys thought it would be impossible for Ford to make a 400+HP without a blower yet GM could build a Camaro that does everything better than the Mustang and perhaps even cure cancer one day...

I guess the GM guys have to get their digs in now because they only have a couple months left until the 5.0 comes out and equals or betters the SS in just about every performance category...... ok done venting now guys ( can anyone tell that I had a long day lol)

 

jees, sorry for getting anyone upset. I believed that these "facts" were so over the top and crazy that people here would get a laugh out of it. I sure did, and the thread was from the last couple days. If it was from last summer you could say they were taking a stab in the dark but theres too much info out about the 2011 to get this much wrong.
