The Things 0% Financing Make Me Do...
OMG I had no idea how long this post turned out to be! tl;dr version at the bottom...
So, I was happy with my 2010 GT (still in sig), told myself to resist the urge to move up to the 5.0 and instead wait for the 50th anniversary; I was doing great too! Then last week I picked up a 2011 Fiesta for my girlfriend as the dealer I've bought all of my Ford's from was offering $1K under invoice for any car on the lot. So, I wound up with a Fiesta with a few options for right around $15K OTD. I was able to resist the urge to trade-in my 2010, still holding strong for the 50th...
So, I get home yesterday from a very stressful work week and see in the mail an offer from the same dealer for MSRP for your trade minus miles. My 2010 just hit 8,800 when I pulled in the garage too! I didn't really think much of it as I do really like my 2010 and to be honest the MT82 transmission was always what was holding me back as I'd hate to be stuck with some of the issues some here have had to go through. But, hey, if something does go wrong that's what the warranty is there for, right?
Of course I thought what the heck, lets see what they have on the lot. There were 2 options that I wish I had gotten on my 2010 and they were the electronics package and the HID's. Now personally I like the look of the front with the standard lights over the HID's (at least with a stock front end), but I live out in the middle of nowhere and Bambi is all over the place! Anyways, they have my exact car (with a 5.0 of course) with HID's and the electronics package w/ the backup camera! My willpower is now fading very fast...
Now I think to myself, self, the only way you should even think about this is if there is 0% financing (5.9% on my 2010). Type into the ole trusty web browser, ford.com/incentives, search 2011 Mustang. Willpower near zero now like the finance rate...
So, I call the salesman I've used for all of my purchases and ask if he'll be there tomorrow (today) and of course he will. So, I run the idea by my girlfriend, who will of course not say no knowing I just bought her a new car last week, and a close friend of mine. They both of course thought it was a great idea!
So fast forward to the dealership today. I arrive in my 2010 and meet up with my salesman. I give him the stock number and he goes off to look for it. He comes back and says he can't find it. I figure he's playing a joke on me, so I give him the stock number again. My girlfriend asks me if I asked him to hold the car last night and I said no since when I called they were 30 minutes away from closing. So, the salesman comes back and says the words I wasn't ready for, "It was sold." My heart sank as I was already planning out the mods last night and could hardly sleep. There was nothing else on the lot that had the options I wanted or the color (black or sterling gray).
Being a strong believer that we only live once and not liking to give up I asked the dealer if there were any more around with the options and color I was after. After about 5 minutes he found 1! It was black on black and pretty close options wise. The only options it didn't have that the other one did were the rear view camera and it had 3.55's instead of the 3.73's. They called the dealer and the next thing I know I was signing my 2010 over and signing up for a 2011!
Now, I don't have the car yet, but will be getting it on Monday. The one concern I have is that when the car arrives at the dealership it will have approximately 250 miles on it. Oh and it was built on 6/14/2010, so I'll be checking that all the TSB's have been done. I'm very particular about my engine break ins; I'm one of the break it in hard (TWSS) kind of people, so the miles and how it was driven during those 250ish miles is on my mind. I do of course have the ability to take back my 2010 if there is something wrong with the car and there is also of course the factory warranty.
Since I don't have a picture of the new car, here's a picture of my 2010 when I first brought it home in July 2009 (still looked the same today)...
One of the reasons it was/is hard to part with my 2010 is because it survived this...
That was last April the day before my 36th birthday. I lost all of the stock parts for the car though (which insurance was nice enough to not cover) and that has always bothered me.
So, in the end my payment is pretty much the same ($7K difference in sticker price from the 2010 to 2011), I was able to put the $5K extra left over on my trade for the 2011 and I've got 0% financing!
Thank you for reading my novel
tl;dr verison
-Had a 2010 and was holding out for the 50th anniv
-Dealer offered MSRP trade minus miles
-Ford is offering 0% financing on the 2011's
-I have less willpower than I thought
-Car I originally went to buy was sold 10 minutes before the dealer closed the night before
-Dealer found almost identical car and I take delivery on Monday

First Congrats,
2nd, did you give up a rebate to get the financing? If you did you might have been better off with another rate.
Finally, the only thing about dealer trades is the originating dealer controls the price, so if you got a decent deal for the first car then they probably had less room to wiggle on this one. Either way congrats, it seems in both cases you missed a couple of options you wanted but I think you will love it just the same.

Thanks for the congrats all!
$26K
Yeah there's $1,500 in rebates or 0% until Monday. The lowest they had other than 0% was 3.9%.
Yep, I could have gotten one of the cars on their lot for about $2K under invoice, but I at least wanted the options I was set on when I arrived. I did use Xplan though, but I just noticed they charged me a $598 processing fee! I called my sales guy on his cell and told him about it and I'll go in Monday morning before the car arrives to get that taken care of. Obviously something I should have caught when I was signing the 1,000 forms, but it was the first time I've had to use my Xplan, so didn't realize it until after I got home

To the OP, glad it worked out for you and made you happy
The x-plan only allows dealers to charge up to $75 for a processing/documenting fee in ANY state even if that state has no limits on those fees, and the $275 administrative fee is included in the x-plan pricing. The only thing not in x-plan pricing is the destination/freight charge, state tax and tags/state registration

I'll let you know tomorrow when I pick it up I had run my 2010 against a friends 2011 and we were neck and neck to about 60 and then I saw taillights after that
The main thing I'm looking at now is finding an exhaust that sounds similar to the Roush I had on my 2010. Sure it was loud and droned a bit, but I loved the sound of it. Even more so yesterday when they took it for a test drive. It was the first time anyone other than myself had driven the car and it sounded awesome as it drove by!

If you loved the roush on your 2010. You will love them on your 2011. As for drone I have had no issues with any drone.

I only had time to get 2 quick pics before I had to bring it in the garage to avoid it getting rained on. I promise it says 5.0 on the sides
I'll get some more pics this weekend when I've had time to give it a good wash.
Holy ****! Were the first words out of my mouth when I went WOT the first time. Of course I want more, so will be ordering my Steeda CAI tomorrow for starters and still haven't made up my mind on which exhaust yet.
Question, I have the SCT tuner from my 2010 and reloaded the stock tune back on it before trading it in. I assume I'll be able to re-use the SCT for the 2011, right?
