There is a pecking order. GT500 owners only wave at other GT500's. GT's at GT's. V6's.....well no one really cares.

I don't like that one. Around here a flash of the lights is a sign that there is a cop up ahead, which makes you slow down, feel nervous, and start looking for a place to hide your beer.

Just kidding about the beer. Don't drink and drive.

I don't wave.

I did when I bought my '05. It was my first Mustang, and I got a lot of people waving or nodding back.

Now it doesn't happen.

Instead of looking like a crazy guy waving at every 4th car on the road, I give I slight nod to guys who you can tell appreciate cars. I get them back a lot.

The one for cops is two quick flashes.

I always wave to other Mustangs as long as it's at least a GT or better. I would say I get a response about half the time...

Dammit! I was gonna say that. But I only do that for Camaros and Priuses.

For Mustangs it depends. Around here if you are on a country road everybody waves at everybody anyway. Seriously. It's weird.

When it comes to Mustangs I will wave at what I know to be an enthusiast. A Shelby, a terminator, a well kept Bullitt. They all get waves and they usually return the wave.

That's the wave I give Camaro owners.

And generally in response they pull a tissue out of their purse to wipe the tears from their eyes.

Don't worry about it, i have a V-6 too. My first 3 Mustangs were 4 cylinders I guess i've never really had a 'real' Mustang (5) because i've never had one with a 8 cylinder

I wave to other mustang owners regardless of model. Usually the modded ones wave back.

I did a similar thread quite some time ago and opinions were varied. One poster opined that since there are so many mustangs, that waiving should be saved for other mustangs which show that the owner is into it. Seemed like a workable plan. So when I see a stang which is clearly owned with pride, modded, immaculately washed, nice exhaust or some combination of these traits... I give a waive. About 20% respond. Oddly, I get more love from freakin Camaro drivers who often tell me what a nice car I have. Go figure.

I would love to see more and I will continue.

This!

It's the difference between them being an enthusiast and just being a car driver in my opinion.

I wave sometimes. The amount of wave depends on how hot the other Mustang is. I also give a friendly wave to Camaros b/c my spouse drives one. Many of the drivers are totally oblivious, but it's nice when one waves back. It's even nicer when a driver catches up ;-) to check out my car for a moment.
