Test drove a Challenger SRT, immeditely missed my 5.0

As for anyone else - they dealt with it. When there were 4 riders, I always knew I was getting the hump seat cause I was the smallest of my friends at 5'6"ish then. It wasn't that bad as long as it wasn't a real long drive.
And no matter what! Nobody was ridin' in a 4 door! We just accepted the 2 door - push the seat up - as life.
Tell him to quit whining and buy the 5.0!

Back in the early 70's high school my buddy had a 65 2+2 fastback. He's was 6'6" then. Fit him fine.

I'm kind of in a similar situation. Had an 07 GT I got rid of a couple of years ago, need something fun to drive again.
The Challenger is the best looking of the two, hands down. I grew up with Mopars and restored a '72 'Cuda, drove it for 11 years before selling it in 2005. I liked my GT, only complaints I had were the seats were garbage. Ford still uses the same seats, and after an hour it in, you could feel a spring or the seat bar digging into the right cheek.
Oh, and for $30k+, you'd think they could put a telescoping steering wheel in it. But, that was just a minor irritant. Mechanically it was money, drove it year round in three awful Michigan winters with just a change to snow tires.
Not a lot of backseat room in the GT. Anybody over 5'8 will smack their head into the read window. Had an 04 GTO, that was even worse on leg room - and trunk space. US crash regulations meant moving the gas tank and standing it up behind the rear seat. removed about 3ft of luggage space.
The real cons to the Challenger are:
1. Cost. As hard as it is to get excited about paying over $30,000 for a BASE Mustang GT -- paying that much for a Dodge is even worse.
2. Weight. The car is about 400lbs away from being perfect. How the h311 do these things get away with weighing 4200lbs?!! Mix in some aluminum or fiberglass hood/trunk lid or something. The 5.7L Hemi puts out decent power, but let's be honest; it's really no better than a 12 year old LS1, and it's powering something 700lbs heavier.
3. Can't tune it. 2011-2012s are currently locked with rolling encrypction codes. Chrysler has not released any softeware assistance for the tuning community. So you can put mufflers or a Cold Air kit on it which might add 5hp, but headers, catless H pipe, cam, anything requiring a tune...you can't tune for it. Kind of a bummer. Luckily Challenger guys seem to like putting every conceivable sticker put on any Dodge or Plymouth musclecar from 64-74 on it.
5.0L Mustang is impossible to beat on paper. And at the track with traction for the most part...

They are pricey. I looked at an SRT8 300 today, white with the black chrome wheels. It was loaded to the hilt, the adaptive cruise control/blind spot etc. package, the premium leather trim package ($2500 iirc) 19 speaker premium sound system, dual panel sunroof, sticker was over $58K. Damned hot looking sedan though.

Thomas Magnum was 6'-4" and drove around quite nicely in a 1981 Ferrari 308 GTS. Just had to make sure the targa roof was removed so his head could stick up.
I know, that comment was useless, but when you mentioned 6'-4" it made me think of the Selleck character since we watched a Magnum p.i. episode on Netflix tonight. That and I LOOOOVE the looks of that Ferrari, even tho my 2012 GT could likely accelerate and handle rings around it. Found a few the other day on Auto Trader for low-to-mid '30's, right in the meat of the GT Premium pricing...

I'd get the SHO. Had a 2010 for about a year and
loved it. The 2013s are even better. But I'm 6' and getting in and out of the front seat was just as hard as getting in and out of a Mustang. Great room in the back and a HUGE trunk. A great fast family car. The AWD pulls. You can basically just floor it and be gone!

I agree with the SHO comment. My buddy thinks it fugly tho. I don't think it's real looker, but it ain't THAT bad. I'd be happy with it. I just need him to test drive one.
oh and update: I guess he and the wifey talked so now, coupes (bye Mustang) are out, because they (she) wants the kids to be able to get in and out on their own. So essentially, it's a 4 door sedan type vehicle only

- Hyundai Genesis sedan
- Ford Taurus SHO
- Chevrolet SS (not out now but it's going to be sweet I bet)
- Used Pontiac G8
- Charger/300
- Lightly used BMW 7-series (7s drop in price a ton and a couple year old one can be had for in the 40's easily)
- Cadillac CTS-V

Still lots of good options:

For some reason he hates BMW's.... I wouldn't own one either, since the maintenance cost would drive me nuts. I think it's an image thing for him, lol.
all I see is a red X... error with image attachment, sorry.
Yes SHO is only AWD. I like the 2013's.... I believe the rear tail lights are LED. Speaking of which... are the Taillights on our 5.0's LED or regular bulbs? pardon the stupid question.
