I'm in the same boat, and the answer I got back was there is no upgrade for me. I don't understand it either. Perhaps if you get a different answer, I can too.
They contacted me back saying there is no update for me. I dont understand how different updates are released for different vins?
Yes, i understand for nav and non nav there will be different ones. I have non nav sync in my '13 gtcs
Well, now its my turn again. Started up my Mustang today and immediately got a "Download Failed" scrawl on the screen. WTH? I never touched it (in that way) and no way did I intend to load an update. I did it last fall and it was a PITA. Anyway now the phone doesn't work, the Bluetooth audio doesn't work, nothing. I tried re-pairing the phone (after re-booting it twice) Droid Turbo 2. It doesn't recognize the phone in discovery mode.
In a related note: I want to try reinstalling the SYNC v4.4 update from a thumb drive and all I can find is that Ford says "You're up to date!" and NO download link.
Any ideas? Ford IV, help?
Update: Disconnected the battery (twice) and hoped to force a re-boot. Then I thought to delete the paired phone from the system and re-pair it to SYNC. Now it appears to be working. Why the SYNC would someday just forget the only phone it has ever been paired with is a mystery to me but.....it works for now and that's all I was looking for.

4.4 is the newest version - what are you thinking you're missing?
4.4 was supposed to have been pulled and replaced with 4.6 because of all installation issues. A few models (Fusion, Focus) have already had 4.6 released, but not Mustang for god knows what reason.
Is doing this update even necessary? I think i'll stick with the oem factory version.
The biggest Pro difference is that Bluetooth-streamed music shows Artist/Title on the screen. The biggest Con difference is that it no longer can handle searching for individual track names when indexing my 30GB+ iPod plugged into the USB port.

Thanks! I'll just leave it alone. Using Sirius anyways.
Just called my dealer to ask about something unrelated, but asked about sync at the end of the call - they looked up my VIN in PTS and it shows v4.6 (DR3T-14D544-AG) as the latest software for my 2013. My owners.ford.com portal does not let me download anything though. Just tried to chat with a service rep and they proceeded to tell me that 4.6 is not out yet, theres no ETA for it coming out, that the dealer is lying, yadda yadda yadda. What kind of service is this? I tried to argue with them, but realized that's a total waste of time. My dealer did offer to install 4.6 for me, but I don't feel like I need to spend time to take my car in for something I can easily do myself - especially something Ford offers owners to do themselves.
GHIGGY302, based on your experience I checked on mine. The SYNC website says that 4.4 is the current for me (2013 GT) and that I've loaded it. It couldn't be that you got bum info from a DEALER, could it? Nah, I didn't think so.
OTOH, at least your dealer mentioned it. Mine won't update/check/download/have anything to do with SYNC. (Is there a small irritation emoji somewhere?)
I gave in and handed over the $150 for my dealer to install the latest version of Sync through the OBD and to my surprise they loaded the latest version of 4.6 on it.
Can confirm all previous issues were fixed with 4.4 and Sync is performing normally like before with all the new features working. For me, worth the money to get rid of the complete headache of having to constantly having to do master resets, etc.
