Stickier tires may cause other issues?

What do you guys think of the Toyo R888? Since my current wheels wouldn't be able to fit a 305 i'd have to switch up wheels. Probably thinking CF5 Forgestars. For staggering would 275/305 be good?

Hooking = breaking. But not likely at the level. As previously mentioned, if you go bang from 4500 on slicks at the track shell start to get cranky. As long as you're still spinning you'll be safe.

Well I'm not expecting a perfect launch from first. What I'm looking to alleviate is getting on it in second around 30mph or so and not just spinning the tires with TC on. I don't expect to get hardly any traction in first I think that's unrealistic. Even in third higher in the powerband it can break loose.

I have the break loose problem as well but it's pretty controlled when I'm in sport. The tires are really predictable as well which I like a lot.

The NT555Rs stick very nice. Just be careful in the rain lol

The 305 MT ET Streets worked incredible at the track this weekend. They hooked every single time with no wheel spin on my auto. Here's my last 2 runs of the day when I had all variables tuned where I want. These tires also like about 4-5 seconds of burnout. You'll be guaranteed to have them hook when warmed up about that long.

(only showing up to 330 ft because the track is only a 1/10th mile)
Also this is a stock stall on an auto, so in a manual I'm sure you could have way more aggressive launches but I'm more concerned with consistency. Not that it matters when talking about the tires though, but just as an fyi a perfect RT is .50 at this track

2nd to last run:
R/T: .5440
60ft: 1.9039
330ft: 5.2391

Last run:
R/T: .5469
60ft: 1.9031
330ft: 5.2391

Can't get a much more consistent 330 ft then being exactly the same...ha!

Very happy with these tires though so I definitely recommend them. I drove the car to the track....the only downside is I did notice on the street they felt a bit "off". A little bit spongy feeling. Not horrible and something I could live with on a day to day basis but just as a warning there.

I'll have a separate set of track wheels and tires. Only way to get a great set of dry tires on the car and not sacrifice wet capabilities. Although hopefully my mustang almost never sees rain... Nitto nt-01's are a lot of tire for the street, but the grip like crazy when they are warm! I like high tread wear all seasons for the street and super stickies for track days. Lots of boss 302 guys are running 305's on the rear with good results from what I've read too

I have 305 35 18's w/ bolt-on power. I would recommend the OP get some 305's and a driveshaft and loop.(DSS and Stiflers)

What size wheel are you running these and do you have some pics of the set up?
