Spring choices

Looking for basically a 1.5 inch drop all around.Good ride quality, and a little handling improvement. Would like to hear everyones opinions on Ford , Steeda, BMR, H&R, Eibach springs etc. And why you would choose one brand over the other . Thanks

Ahhh, it's not that simple. First, I'd rule out BMR because they aren't for anything but looks, they are lower and no stiffer than stock. As for the others, they all have various options. I 95% of the time use a particular version of Steeda Sport springs which are made by Hypercoil, super high quality, lightweight, great balance, and best of all a great riding set of lowering springs. I also sell Eibach and H&R (and Ford Racing are Eibach springs they are not anything special).

Bottom line it comes down to quality, ride and what you feel works best. Having the chance to be in a lot of cars on various setups and rates I get a better sense of that than someone who goes from stock to one set only.

My preference above all are linear rate Steeda Sports, then Ultralites, then some H&R's then Eibach. Note that I don't ever want folks on slammed springs of any brand, no Steeda Extreme Sport, Eibach Sportlines, or H&R Super Sports, if I can help it. Those are more looks than anything.

I'm am almost certain that you will LOVE the Steed Ultralites. That's what I've decided on and these springs have not only improved the looks and stance of the vehicle, but have certainly improved the handling, without the loss of ride quality!

If I was given the choice again, I wouldn't change a thing and would go with Steeda over and over again. Hands down!

So just the Ultralites and nothing else? You left everything else stock? Mounts etc.?

I think I want to do that rout as well. Does it eliminate the highway bounce the brembo comes with? lol

Everything is stock, except of the Steeda Adjustable Panhard Bar. In order to properly allign the car when lowering, I truly felt that this was a necessary accessory.

Ford racing is $180 for all of it, and your supporting ford. How could you go with anything else.

I hadn't heard about a highway bounce with the Brembo package, how bad is it?

I felt it... it was shattering my head... the supsension frequency is TERRIBLE from the factory. I can't see how people can drive it stock.

Best thing someone can do is swap out the springs and dampers the minute it's off the lot.

When I was researching this I had a tough time finding any negative feedback on the Steeda Ultr-Lite springs. Handling, looks & ride are all there...

I bought my car in St. Louis, MO and drove 1,000 miles back to Washington, DC so I know ALL about the suspension bounce! It is B-A-D BAD!

The 370Z I drove to STL felt like a Rolls Royce by comparison.

I have already decided to replace the shocks & struts, but I'm reluctant to lower the car, because the roads here in northwestern PA are pretty bad & I'm not the type to sport a "too low for fat hoes" car. Is it possible to improve both the handling & ride quality without lowering the car?

Yes, definitely. Just upgrading the shocks alone will be a big improvement. But given how high the Mustang sits already a small drop like with the Steeda Sport springs really won't make much of a difference in your streetability of the car. It will still have quite a bit of clearance and as long as you don't try to drive directly into potholes you should be A-OK!

So if someone is planning to change out the springs, struts & shocks, is ordering the Brembo brake package still a good idea?

If you still like the brakes and the wheels I'd definitely say so.

thats the way I am going on my 06. The pro's I had on there were great for turning but hell as far as everyday ride went. To stiff and you feel every dip and bump. but that what they are for.
