Sound Tube Delete - Cap issue

I ordered the kit to remove the Sound Tube...however, when I go to put the cap in the hole in the firewall, it just falls out...anyone else have this problem?

I just cut some real small strips of black electrical tape and put it on and now it seems to fit snug......

How about a little weatherstrip adhesive or RTV?

Though you will pay more I believe the cap that works is for a Ford brake master cylinder, you can pick it up from Advanced.

Had the same problem, thought it was in tight, now I can't find it. Probably on the road somewhere now.

puma, it's not a fake sound. The tube somehow transmits the engine sound into the cabin when you get on the gas. I have gotten used to it, and don't realize it's there anymore. In my mind it's just a gimmick at best.

Just get this one. It works great. I threw a little weatherstrip adhesive on it to make sure it does not disappear.

Perfect fit, do not need any adhesive at all. Mine has been on for over a year now. You can purchase that at AutoZone. Just give them that #42098.

Thanks for the compliment, most are on here, but there are a couple of knuckle Heads. Even me at one point. Some like to edge you on and I have learned just to ignore the situation. It took awhile, but I eventually got it.

Hi all, first post here. I have a 3.7 and have seen the youtube video where someone installed the sound tube on there 3.7. I thought it sounded great, anyone here who has removed there sound tube looking to get rid of it? I have posted on a couple other forums looking for anyone who has one of these taking up real estate in their garage, you may have seen me on another forum, same screen name. Thanks
