So how often do you red line your car?

hey 12' GT 6MT here, so I rarely drive at WOT. I usually do it once in 2 weeks or so. What do you think is the best gear to drive at WOT in? I like the pull in 2nd gear. How much does driving at WOT for lets say 5 seconds affect your miles per gallon? like does it kill it or it just hurts it slightly? how often do you red line your car.

Redline, not very often. However it was cool to see the gauges flash red, the only time I remember doing it.

If you run WOT a few times a day, you will see 10-12 MPG averages. You will literally consume a mastodon or stegosaurus sized quantity of petrol daily.

I bounce mine off the limiter every week or so. It's an A6 so it depends what speed I floor it whether it bounces off the rev limiter or not.

I don't think I have ever taken mine all the way to redline. A few 6500 shifts, but thats as far as I've gotten. With the long-*** 2.73s the only time I'm up there is in 1st or 2nd topping out at 80 or so

It won't hurt anything to bounce it off the limiter once in a while. Just don't do it all the time. The motor will rev quite a way past the limiter, and there is a safety factor built in to where the limiter kicks in. Ford can't be replacing engines just because they are revved to the limiter rpm.

I'd say on average maybe once every few days. I bounced off the limiter yesterday at the top of 3rd

I have my rev limiter set at 7500 rpm's and I hit that at least once a day pounding through the gears. I try not to run it past 7000 rpm's, but with 4.56 gears, it's easy to over rev - especially in 1st and 2nd gear as they come and go so quickly at WOT.

I haven't received my Mustang yet, but with my S2000 I would occasionally shift out of 1st and 2nd at 8,000. A few times I hit the limiter, which in that car is fuel shutoff. It felt as if you were suddenly in about 2 feet of water.

I suspect I better wait a few hundred miles before redlining my Mustang.

In NYC so red lining usually means death or jail, but when I get to the 'burbs, I'm able to a few times a month. Then I'm reminded why I bought this car.

I WOT frequently, my MPG is at 17.5 since jan so not so bad, redline I do a few times a week, hit the limiter - only a couple times since I got the car, I try to not press that too much.

Pay to play man. Use up all the dinosaurs while you can before they (the man) starts rationing that and giving it away too.

Exactly, no need to let a Challenger cut in front of me only to have him go slowly around the on ramp, he was a good sport about it in the end.

Never & also not possible due to roads pack with cars, Roads equipped with speed camera with huge fines, people randomly cross the roads unexpectedly etc.
