Skip Shift...

just wondering but have any of you new 5.0 owners 'disabled' the skip shift feature (if possible) or is it not that big of an issue that you've learned to live with it?

I hate it, and I don't understand it, why would I need assistance to go from 1st to 4th gear? I bought a manual because I wanted to choose what gear when. It seems engineered for first time manual trans drivers.
Anyone knows how to disable it? I know how to avoid it, but I'd like MY gearbox freely...

There will be something to disable it in a few months for $25ish. Patience

Correct. The 2010 Camaro has a Skip-Shift Eliminator sold for $30ish. So I guess the Mustang one will be in market soon.

I thought the skip shift feature will not be there since Ford is not using the Tremec transmission like the Camaro. I've seen the cases where you need to skip shift in the Camaro.

When do you need to skip shift in the Mustang though?

Well, I have only had mine a few days, but the "skip" has never kicked in and I have not
hit it that hard all the time even when getting used to the lighter clutch. Even the one
I test drove it didn't kick in. Guess I will have to try to get it to work just to see what it feels
like. Maybe mine already has "the fix" !

I haven't heard of anyone hitting it yet. Makes me think it's such a limited set of parameters that it is very difficult to hit.

Not a problem with me. You have to go very very easy on accel. to make it happen.
Not the problem I thought it would be.

It's there simply to cheat the EPA mileage test a little. It's not really fair but GM has been getting away with it for over a decade so Ford figured we may as well, too.

I have about 500 miles on my 2011 and I have driven it to work daily the past week and a half. Skip shift has never "activated". Lots of stop and go. 0-60Kph (0-30Mph).

Just came from a test drive of a 2011 manual GT. Went out of my way trying to get skip shift to engage. Only time it did was when I left so slowly I almost stalled the motor. It's a non issue IMHO.
