If Ford were to make an SVO, why on Earth would they limit it to making 350 hp? It's a special edition so it would be more costly then a GT, but it should intentionally make less power? That's a recipe for a poor seller. If they were to do it, they may as well tune it for maximum power. As it is, we've got the GT500 and the upcoming Boss, so I don't think there is room for another performance variation.

When the next generation comes around, I could see the base model having an EcoBoost 4. I could see the Shelby GT500 (or Cobra if they decide to drop the Shelby name) having an EcoBoost Coyote. While I would like to see the GT customer having a choice of either the 5.0 V8 or an EcoBoost V6, I don't know if the Mustang sells in high enough numbers to justify having that many engine choices. It's one thing to offer four or five engines in a high-volume vehicle like the F-150, another in the Mustang.

Drop the Shelby for a blowdried bent six - no thanks The top dog is all about a Mustang being on steriods, its brash and in your face with an equally brash and in your face powertrain. The SVO was never about that, it was a technology demonstrator and designed to appeal to people who wanted something akin to the sports cars coming out of europe (I would say akin to an M3, but the SVO predated the M3 by about 2 years) but in an american wrapper.

An SVO would be fine as an SE, perhaps even giving the Bullitt a rest for a year or two, but it shouldn't be the top dog Mustang by a longshot.

If Ford wants to bring back an SVO the Ecoboost V6 would be the PERFECT choice.

And yes I believe an Ecoboost V6 SVO would be nasty.
