One of the online automotive blogs out there gave a 60,000 mile review of his 2011 GT with generally good feedback... but then his next post explained how his clutch croaked almost immediately thereafter. 
Is 60k miles a typical life for a clutch in these cars???
My XJ Cherokee (4.0L 4wd) has 155,000 on the original clutch with no signs of slippage, my 1997 Miata went 213,000 (hard) miles before the throwout bearing started to give way, still lots of material left on the factory clutch (replaced it anyway)..
I don't think I'd want to do the clucth job on the 2011 myself so I'm a bit concerned at a bit of expensive maintanence that might be coming up much sooner than I ever would have expected.
What are people seeing on this? My '11 GT has 18k on it now so I likely still have a while to prepare...but this is seriously disappointing.

There's plenty of cars out there reaching that mileage - I'm just past 56K myself, and I can feel absolutely no difference in the clutch since the day I bought it. I'm not Aryton Senna with a clutch but I'm not overly hard on it either. Very few burnouts and powershifts.
The stock clutch is not very heavy duty but it really depends on driving habits. Riding the clutch on start off, high rev shifts, horsepower, etc. Daily driver with not much stop and go traffic, it should last a real long time. Enjoying the hell out of your car, not so much.

if you drive the car hard, you can't expect not to have issues. Example, bro-in-laws 2012 Chevy cruze already has oil leak issues, and he drives the hell out of that car. Granted its a Chevy
but still only has 15K miles
you should tell him to take it to the dealership, they have a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty. gm dealerships arent hard to work with at all from my experiences and they try to make it right.
