SCT Bama Error Code 1018

Well its friday night and I am trying to load my Bama tunes since I just installed my JLT CAI.

I get a message that says error code 1018 read strategy failed. But then it lets me pick the tune I want and load it.

Then it freezes on "Unlock ECU Please Wait..."

Anybody have any clue what to do that DOESN'T involve waiting until monday to call Bama or SCT? My device is up to date.

Did you get that code right when you plugged it in? Check the print out in the box with your info on it and see if the ecu code matches the one on your car. Sounds like it can't read your ecu. If that's it, then call them tomorrow and have them email you a corrected one.

That's weird, mine came with a print out and instructions. I believe they're open tomorrow, I'd call them first thing in the morning. It's gotta be something with the computer code.

Forgot to post, I called Bama yesterday and they said that code usually means a bad handheld. Great. Now I have to call SCT monday and probably mail it back. Sucks pretty bad when you spend a couple hours waxing and detailing your car, then put your CAI on to go out to the local car scene only to waste an hour fiddling with a tuner, then have to put the stock air intake back on.

I hope my appointment at the dealer on monday for my trans goes better than this.

That does suck. AM has good customer service, I would have thought they'd send out a new one without trouble.

I remember reading another post a few months back where it was a defective handheld - seems like SCT was able to email a fix. IIRC

Do you have to tune a car if you just add axel backs? Or is it just with engine mods??

I guess that wouldn't be bad then.

Not for axel backs, mostly engine mods. Unless you're getting headers or an x-pipe then you might have to.
