I just found 4 spots of rust under the paint on my 13 Mustang. It's 6 months out of the manufacturers warranty. I bought extended but they refuse to cover it under that. Now they want pictures but since they won't cover it I don't know why. Very disappointed in Ford. I baby my car and had planned to keep it forever.
Rust under the hood? Usually Ford will cover the replacement or fix it if its under the 3 year warranty period.

That stinks. I had the issue on my 14 and had my local dealer take care of it under the warranty. No return yet but I'm waiting for it. I'm resigned to the fact that if it does I am getting an aftermarket hood.
Are they replacing the hood or just sanding it and re-paint?

I've heard that fixing it doesn't work, rust will still occur (scroll up). Replacing the hood usually fixes the issue as they use different material making the hood.

Are you referring to the hood or the overall car in general ?

I had the corrosion on the bottom side of my hood. The dealership repaired it and so far it has not returned. If it does I'll trade the car for a used truck and not think twice about it. So tired of car manufacturers that charge this kind of money and cut corners all over the place.

You sound bitter. Have you had a lot of other issues with the car? I feel all in all these S197 cars are very reliable and don't have a ton of issues.

Nah, mechanically the car has been flawless. The Pirelli tires were crap so I had to ditch them and you would think for 28 grand I could get Ford to paint a doggon rear axle instead of just leaving it bare metal so it develops a coat of rust in short order.
Get a can of Rust Cure spray and spray the hell out of it underneath.

I bought some navy jelly. When it warms up I'll get up under the car and remove the rust and spray it down with some rustoleum high temp paint. The point being, I shouldn't have to do that for a car that cost me 28 grand.
