RTR Wheel touch up paint

i have a few blemishes in my charcoal RTR rims and i wanted to see if anyone has successfully matched the color of the powder coat with a paint?

i tried emailing RTR but not luck there

I don’t know exactly what paint color to tell you to get. The wheels are powder coated that color so you will just need to get a dark grey paint that matches close to that color. Sorry I’m not much of a help to you on that!
Thank you
this 13 has been nothing but a hex for me lol, i allready had a RTR rim replaced from a tire shop that scuffed the **** out of the lug holes

so far...

15,500 damage to car due to gravel on highway
new rims show up with non-working TPMS sensors
new sensors installed but tire shop scratched rim
CEL fiasco and misfire issues
new rim showed up scratched...that didnt stop tire shop took car on joyride (checked mileage in/out)
new rim showed up and put on
now i noticed small chips in the powdercoat on another rim

haha sorry for rambling

i close on a house with a garage next month and it will be Layla's house of comfort lol

so lets help a guy out with a matching color

Grab a drink and a seat lemme fill you in on my RTR experiences, ill try to keep it short. So I had mine on the car and after nearly 2 years of use, like yours they were starting to show some wear. A few regular marks from road debri, but a few small gashes from an automatic car wash.......uggh never again.

I was thinking of having a wheel repair place come out and fix them up, I had talked with a guy and he quoted me 125 a wheel. While Im debating doing this in my head. I take my car into ford for an oil change. And after he was done, the tech proceded to curb my wheel taking out a good portion of the passenger side.

To which case, they had there own wheel repair guy come out and fix it for free. After seeing what kind of job the guy did, which was pretty good dont get me wrong. I wasnt happy with them anymore. I could look at that wheel and pick out the repair from 10 ft because it was my car. The grooves in the wheel etc are hard to match, and the paint was hard for him to match. Why because he used spray paint, on a power coated wheel

So yea can it be matched pretty close, the other option you have is just repowder coat em. Or...do what i did uload on craigslist and snag a nearly brand new pair of brembos

I have a couple of nicks on one of mine. I'm going to hobby store tomorrow to see if I can find a close match. I'll let you know what I find.

FWIW These mobile lot lizards charge dealers about $75/wheel and like anything else, there are pros and there are hacks.

I know one here locally and he while he does good looking work, he doesn't even use body filler for road rash on a painted wheel. The industry std for cost and speed is to sand down the wheel until the scratches disappear.

Yes, this leaves a low spot, but I'll bet you 99+% of the people walking around a car on a used car lot with a wheel repaired this way would never notice the low spot in the lip of the wheel.

He has some pretty neat tricks of the trade like using playing cards tucked in between the wheel and the rubber as his 'masking paper'.

A lot of OEM silver/grey wheels nowadays are tri-coat pearl paint colors which you aren't going to match by going to Hobby Lobby.
