Royal Purple Oil & Oil Filter

Going to be changing the oil in the new 2012 GT Ragtop soon at about 1000 miles. Have ordered Royal Purple 5W20 and have some Royal Purple 20-500 oil filters. I think this oil will be a good choice for my new 5.0 engine and hope the filters are a good choice as well. Anyone else using this RP combo on your 5.0 V8's???

Thanks,

Phil

PS....No flaming me for this "Oil Thread" please

Sure there's somebody using that combo - Royal Purple is great stuff. Used to buy it back when I got the employee discount at O'Reilly. Now I use Castrol Edge with Syntec and K&N oil filters.

Should be a good combo. If you're not driving in extremely cold temperatures, you may want to go with a 10w30. There's some great information on the subject in this thread.

You can't go wrong with any of the 5w20 full synthetics (Mobil 1 EP,
Amsoil, RP etc)

I use RP 5W-30 and the RP filter... love it. I know you're not supposed to 'feel' any difference from an oil change, but I swear my car runs better since I switched to RP...

Thanks for the reply. Funny, but that is what a lot of reviews are saying. That once they use RP, their cars get better mileage and seem to run better. I guess less friction might equal this.

Regards,

Phil

It's really good stuff there's study somewhere about the differences in wear protection of all the major oils if I find it I'll post it up...

So the 5W-30 cannot hurt the engine in any way other than gas mileage? Fine with me lol.
