Roush brake observation

A local dealer just received a few '11 Roush cars.

All of them have the std brakes..no Brembos.

Why wouldn't Roush upgrade the brakes or do they think the std brakes are adequate?

They are probably just Stage 1's which is the body kit and wheels only.

Yeah I believe Stage 2 is where they begin with suspension and brake mods, followed by power train with Stage 3.

I went to the Roush site and the Stage 3's can get a brake upgrade.

My bad.

The Roush's can be ordered with the Brembos, glass roof, Nav, etc. BUT, you will be paying $1700 for front brakes alone because you will not be getting the 19" Brembo package wheels with the Roush. Another option is the Roush Stoptechs with ss braided lines, and 2-pc lightweight rotors at all four corners for $2800.

Just test drove a 2011 Stage 1 over the weekend and asked the same question. The dealer (#1 Roush dealer in MO) told me that even with a Stage 3, the upgraded Roush brakes are an option. Though most dealers who order a Stage 3 do add the optional breaks, they aren't standard with any Roush package.

According to MT the braking of the "standard brakes" from 60-0 is 108ft. The Brembo's were 105ft. So the brembo's (on this test) ~2.7% better over standard. 3 feet... Meh...

The difference comes in heavier brake use, where the Brembos will be significantly more resistant to brake fade.
