I'm just using my iPhone 4. I'm thinking I might want a nicer camera soon though. I have a Canon that I like, but the battery door is broken, so I dint really use it much.

You'll certainly get some great shots with a decent dslr. There are so many advantages (with respect to photography). Virtually no shutter lag time, professional settings, various lenses - just to name a few. If you can take a good picture, the quality of your photos will amaze you. Just enlarge a "phone camera" shot to the size of your laptop screen and compare to one from a decent dslr - it'll be hard to accept anything less after that.

For me, I'm using a 7-year old Panasonic Lumix (DMC-FZ30) with a Leica lens. It's completely digital - and has no changeable lenses (but you can use lens attachments for tele and macro). As long as I don't take a photo in a dark environment with no flash, it's perfect (there's too much noise otherwise, requiring post-processing). It has led to another fun hobby over the past few years. These days, something equivalent is amazingly low-cost.

Shop around - and have fun!

Thanks! I was lookin at a few by nixon and i saw one that looked like it would be perfect or any kind of picture takin. Whether im doin somethin with family or goin for a cruise with some friends. Or doing a little photoshoot. I do mobile detailing (im 17 and get paid great! Its helpin me for college) so if i do pics of customers cars maybe theyll pay for the pictures too! I could make a good hobby out of this (:

Duh! But, that's what a great photo shot should do - keep the viewer looking.

Good Work.
