reprogram power steering -- is it possible?
Just a thought:
The power steering boost options Comfort/Standard/Sport aren't too different from each other. Since this is an electronic steering system, I assume those settings are just parameters for an electric motor. I was wondering if anyone thought about the possibility of adjusting the boost beyond those presets? (Obviously within the capabilities of the electric motor.)
I would love to have more dynamic range... sometimes when running city errands, a lighter steering would be nice --- and a stiffer steering would be more fun on the highway.

Hello Greg (No pun intended), I have the '13 GT/premium which also has the identical 3 mode steering options (I think all the stangs have it this year) and love the 3 different modes of steering feel. I find the Standard to be the one I use most all the time which feels just right for me, but when I am at speed on the highways I put it into sport mode and the wheel firms up quite a bit where I pretty much have to muscle the steering wheel that seems to fight my inputs and it feels great to me, again at speed.
I only put it in comfort mode when I am tooling around the streets or weaving in and out of traffic congestion etc. I find this mode to be too light with the least feedback of all where I can comfortably turn the wheel with just a finger if I wanted to. I little to light to my liking and I rarely use this setting. I love this new option Ford came out with this year.
So I do not see why anyone would need any more adjustment that what is offered. Unless there is a factory option to adjust the steering range I would personally leave it alone.
Well I know we all have different tastes and Salsiccia his own and everything, so good luck with whatever you decide to do.
My problem is that I got the optional 19 inch premium luster painted nickle wheels on my GT/premium which I love and wish I could find a 19" X 10'' for the rears in the same wheel and have a staggered set up which I think would look awesome. I searched everywhere on the internet and Ford and it looks like I would have to get a completely new style of wheel and new tires just to have that staggered look. Anyway, take care and happy driving.
Hey, congrats and good luck with you new Stang my friend! I hope it works out for you and you can change the steering options without to much ado.
Ciao!
