Record stays in 1985...
Every year things will continue to get better and better.
And at this point there's potentially so much cool stuff coming, I've even said to myself I'll wait untill the next version (which isn't really that far away)
The engines are rockin, the toys are rockin... the clincher for me is the looks.
(and gives me time to save up)
As for getting something cool for xmas...
I got cool stuff, but I've been somewhat layed up sick for 4 weeks....sucks...
With all the issues they had they probably should have delayed the launch a couple more months to get it right.
[QUOTE=Boomer;5792716]The 5.4 still has legs thats for sure. I wouldn't expect a new GT500 engine till at least the next design.QUOTE]
Although I totally agree that the 5.4 has a lot of potential left in it, with it being replaced by the 5.0 in the F150 and everything else, how is it justifiable to keep it around for a few (relatively speaking) GT500s?
I guess the next design isn't that far away though, so it would make sense to at least keep it until then which should be enough time to get the S/C 5.0 thoughouly ironed out.

That is bad considering the years of hype and the pent up demand. I garauntee you if the mustang was out for 8 yrs it would outsold any car in its segment upon return.
there's like two threads on this... camaro should have kicked butt - at least in its debut year.
but it didn't. it gets a capital

Its funny how the Gm fans ***** cause the mustang had an extra few months of sales ahead of the camaro. At the same time its not our fault Gm discounted their Camaro in 02 and the mustang has never died.
It still seems too much of the focus is on the hardcore numbers/performance - not making a car that's more day-to-day livable for a broader audience or for those whose commutes to work are not done a 1/4 mile at a time. It didn't work back then and still doesn't work now. Given the 2010+ Mustang's plastic/rear end and 2 Transformers movies, this may have been the Camaro's only chance to pull a win. With the intro of the new V6/V8/6spd trans combos, and (hopefully) non-squealing (properly designed and tested) Brembo brake package, it will only get more difficult to take the sales crown away from the original and still the best pony car.

It's funny how the Camaro fans are saying "But,but the Camaro outsold the Mustang for some MONTHS in the year and the Mustang had a two month head start, and the if we extrapolate those two months of Camaro sales, blah blah blah.." But what it comes down to is the YEARLY sales total that count, and sorry the Camaro lost. Years from now nobody will care about the month to month sales figures.
I'd take a 1985 5.0 Mustang over a 1985 Camaro V8 any day of the week. God those cars were ugly, new ones aren't much better to look at either. They may make more power but they're ugly as sin. The 60's early 70's camaros were easy on the eyes but thats about it.

idk... I think that looked better...

than this ...

As for this 2 months of extra Mustang sales... considering the economy and fear at that point I doubt the sales figures were anything to write home about. If it wasn't for the pent up demand and hyped anticipation for the Camaro, I'm sure it would have done even worse because of the economy.
^^^ I remember reading that article years ago in a stack of old car mags I found. They were much closer in performance back then. IIRC, the Mustang's trans broke during the top speed portion of the test. Even with that result and not caring for the "aero" look when it first debuted, I still liked the Mustang more even back then. Though I am not ashamed to admit to liking the 1st gen Camaros (just like Mustangs more!
