Read the original article on safecar.gov it mentions manual trans may not have reverse lights come on and u may struck pedestrians...don't know why they cropped that out

The recall does not effect the internal workings of the transmission.

As with all recalls, they are usually forced to release the details of the recall by the NHSTA before the manufacturer is able to source and deliver enough, release training materials, etc.. before they can actually start repairing vehicles.

If you disagree with how they are processing the issue, lodge a complaint with the NHSTA and Ford.

I know it can happen, but it is hard for me imagine someone putting the vehicle in reverse and not realizing they did even if the little R doesn't illuminate. It does need to be fixed, but I'm just saying.
