try this: loosen the lateral stiffener bar, loosen the pan hard bar, while the suspension is loaded. re-lube the phb, and torque to spec.
for me that was the final resolution to the squeak. I had tightened the lateral stiffener bar too far!

Ok... I went to town on that sway bar tonight. Removed the whole darn thing, and going to clean it and regrease EVERYTHING.

Take a test drive without it and see if the noise goes away, just to make sure.

Right! Take her on a spin (carefully) and see if you still have the squeak.

Wtf.. You can do that? I mean it makes sense that one could, but what are the dangers?

The purpose of a sway bar is:
- to reduce body lean
- dial in/out, over or under steer.

as long as you don't drive like you want to win the indy 500, you should be fine. Just find some speed bumps and drive over them. You will know if the squeak is coming from the sway bar, or from something else.
(he changed his shocks, so something else might have changed in the setup).

Maximum Motorsports actually recommends you to remove your rear sway bar if you lower your S197 and don't upgrade the front bar, if you're running a square tire setup. The Boss 302S racecars run no sway bar also.

But they compensate for the sway bar delete with stiffer springs.

OP, you might want to also check the panhard bar for squeaks as well. So, taking a drive without the sway is a good idea.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I drove for just a tad last night without the bar for fear of damaging something . I could not duplicate the sound. Installed the sway, and all was well, but it was late last night, and I was starting to get loopy lol. I "thought" I heard it but could be wrong. I'm going to my buddy's shop today to have him squirt some grease to the panhard bar as it couldn't hurt.

Btw, if I get my coilovers, and this squeak is still there, I'm getting rid of that sway bar if that's the case. Going with competition spring coilovers from steeda probably. 200lbin rear and 225lbin front I think...

Very interesting!! I did lower my mustang 1.1in in the front and 1.7in in the rear.. used Eibach Sportline springs, which seem pretty stiff. I also upgraded almost everything, so hat would include the front and rear sway bar, now eibach. but only the front one is adjustable. I do have a squre set up. so if I wanted to, I could run with no rear sway bar?

or is that mainly for track use?

They recommend you remove the rear if you don't upgrade to a stiffer front...see the screenshot from their spring recommendations...

Ok update....

as you know last night, I removed the entire sway bar and cleaned it and regreased every bushing. Then this morning, I got a grease gun and Mobil 1 synthetic grease, and had my buddy at the shop grease the BMR panhard bar bushings. I drove it around for a little bit this pm, and so far, no squeaks.

I'm not going to get too excited on this, as I know there is a possibility of it coming back. From what I understand, the STIFFER you make the car, the more squeaks will come with it. Part of having a good handling car. Ok, I can live with that then. I am planning on getting Steeda coilovers soon, so it will get even stiffer. Bring it on.

That's why I left the suspension in this car stock. My last two Mustangs got modded big time and they ended up being noisy. I couldn't stand it.
