Really Nav HD? really?

Can someone explain to me why you can't load songs onto the Navigation HD from the USB? (or maybe you can and i'm just an idiot)

Also why can't you load songs from an MP3 CD? Only regular audio CDs!

How am i supposed to put 500+ songs from my computer on the HD with audio CDs?
:: goes and buys 10 CD-RW and takes about 20 years to load all songs ::

Sorry that was me venting, so does anyone know why it's this way?

I have a feeling it has to do with copyright infringement and Microsoft's attempt to avoid allowing copyrighted material to be 'copied' to their hard drive. Most likely if you have music on your USB, you didn't buy it.

So they figure if its coming from a CD, you bought it. Even though Microsoft and all of us know that isn't always true.

So they are just covering their asses.

I just plan on using one of my 2.5" External drives that are like 640gb and leaving it either in the center console or using the USB that is hidden in the glovebox.

Yeah thats what i was planning on doing too but you have a valid point with the copyright infringement.

I mean who actually buys music these days? gosh

Eh I do, but I like good quality music, and when you download it off who knows where, it's hit or miss. But I have a pickier ear than most people.

Maybe someone will hack it one day so you can somehow work around their interface. A computer between the Sync's hard drive and your music. Dump it that way.

There is an USB in the glovebox? I'll have to take a look...the USB in the center console is awkward to say the least.

Hum, my 32 gigabyte USB flash drive holds enough songs in 320 kbps to drive around the globe a few times and never repeat a song?

I just drove 20 hours, 10 each way, and had way more songs than I could listen to without a repeat. That is about a simple as it gets.

But my 2008 sync in the Sable does not have a hard drive.

The MyGig units in Dodge and Chrylser vehicles allow music to be copied from a USB Stick to the Hard Drive. They seem to have no issues with Copyrights

Thats what ive read. Open glovebox and look up toward the dash on the inside. And there is a male usb connector. In order for sync to switch to it though you have to tell it "usb 2"

Isn't this about the tenth thread to ask this question? The simple answer is to forget that the hard drive is even there and play your MP3's directly from a flash drive or USB-powered portable hard drive. It really is the easiest way.
