My 2011 V6 Mustang coupe is getting real world 23.4 average driving at 80 MPH highway from Orlando to Tampa, 4 days a week. Down town traffic jams (stop/go traffic) still net me 22 MPG.

Good gas mileage, and a fun to drive Mustang. One of these days I'm going to try and cruise at 70 MPH to see if I can get higher MPG....one of these days.

Yea those numbers are very close to mine. Staying at 70 gets me like 24.5, but the sweet spot is 60mph in 6th, not that it's ever worth it.

I average 23-25 depending on traffic when I hit the city going to work and I get a low of 28 and a high of 32 on the highway. I get about 32 when I am doing 70 mph and 26 or so when doing 80. I drive about 100 miles a day. I've also noticed it really depends on your highway too. In Kentucky the highways tend to have plenty of hills. I've noticed a difference in mileage going to work and going home from work just because the way I am headed on the highway. I averaged 33 on a hour and a half trip once that I have not repeated. I also drove from Kentucky to Michigan and averaged 28 mpg including stops for the restroom, snacks, and gas. I've noticed a big difference when using 93 octane as well. Using 87 I was averaging 325-330 a tank. I've used 93 for the past two months and my lowest tank has been about 350. Honestly paying .20 more pays off in my experience.

even if the additional car gets 100 mpg, you'll never even come close to recouping the cost of the car, insurance, registration, maintenace, etc..
That's what I was thinking Sal.

My Mustang just turned 4,400 miles and has been averaging 17 mpg for my commute back and forth to work. I'm taking the car on its first road trip to Arizona today. I'm hoping to see over 20 mpg for freeway only driving. I'll report back after the trip.

I don't think you've had a single V6 convertible response yet. With the factory 2.73 gears I was consistently getting just under 21 mpg in city driving and about 27-28 mpg with pure highway driving. That has dropped to about 19.5 mpg city and 26 mpg highway with the 3.31 gears. Mind you, I'm sure I could get the city mileage back up over 20 if I wasn't enjoying the gear change so much. (All mileage calculated... not from the in-dash display)

How far from accurate were you from the in dash display?

I've calculated 4 times and all 4 times it was within 1 mpg of my dash.

My dash display is usually 1.5 mpg low for city diving and about 1 mpg low for highway trips. That's over a span of several tanks because the variance is even more substantial if I reset the dash counter more frequently.

I get around that in my 2011 v6 vert.
