raxiom headunit

i am going to start a new thread on this since the one i found, the last post was back in 2014 lol

so i got this headunit with my car and when i went on my trip to vegas and cali, the headunit froze up about 3 or 4 times. the 4th time it froze i couldnt get it to reset, so i had to wait till the car was turned off and turned back on. it seems like you cant really change to the radio or anything if running nav, so i had to end up filtering through channels and not knowing what it was on. 2nd thing was the sd card. i took it out and updated it but when i put it back in the unit kept saying no sd card found. it took it about 5 trys before it finally started to load. also when ever i put in a destination it would add about 3 to 4 hours more to the trip then using my phone. Idk what was up with that. i ended up having to use my phone because i didnt want to turn a 22 hour drive into a 26 or 28 hour drive. Sucks that you dont get free map updates and the cheapest i could get from them was 70 bucks for a year. not sure that is worth it to me. since the car was bought used, im not sure how i would go about trying to find out if the unit still has warranty or not.
all in all its an ok unit, i cant complain too much since the car came with it but the speakers gots to go lol. going to get all that upgraded soon.

I installed one in mine. I wanted factory GPS but it wasn't all to common in 13's. The GPS is glitchy. Mine has frozen quite a few times. I don't use the GPS feature as a result. It works fine for all other functions.

I also added the kicker Shelby amp which turned into a nightmare. The raxiom unit has a small plug that you have to choose one of two connections, 2010-2012 or 2013-2014. I have a 13 so obviously that's the one I had chosen. After 2 months of Shelby offering ZERO help or support I turned to Kicker who went well above and beyond. They stuck with me and in the end we figured out that the raxiom unit needed the 2012 plug chosen to work with the kicker Shelby amp. So if you ever try to add that amp.....

Yea gps is kind of sucky not going to lie. I ended up using my phone when going to vegas and cali bc the gps was extending the trip by 3 hours or 2 and I'm like uhhhhh no lol...

I have the rockford fosgate system. Got 2 amps one for sub, one for the speakers. They just did it that way. I guess it was easier.
I know with thone year wires turned around I would get the popping. I haven't tested it yet with the new system.in there
Will have to try today
