Radio Installation
Radio Installation
I'm look to upgrade the radio in my girlfriends mustang for Christmas and was looking for some help with which route to go.
It's a 2012 Ford Mustang V6 convertible, 6 speed, base model, without the shaker system.
Here's the solutions I've came up with so far but all of them have their set backs.
1) Maestro KIT-MUS1 Dash Kit and T-Harness for 2010-2014 Ford Mustangs Without Navigation

4) The fourth option I found as viable solution would be to go with the Grom USB adaption kit and getting the Bluetooth module.
Along with the headunit, I'm look at installing speakers to go along with this. Either plan on going with 4 Skar 5 1/2 for the doors and shelf, along with some tweeters for the pillars. The other option was to go ahead and spend the money and do a full JL build in it considering she already has the JL Dual 8's all in one unit in the trunk.
Thanks!

At $200 this doesn't seem like a bad dash kit, my biggest gripe with this route is that it utilizes the head unit for the ac controls and that would be a pain trying to switch back and forth between ac and radio.
Along with the other con, you are gonna be spending $300 on a radio, which will put you close to $600 with adapters for the whole unit.
2) Dynavin 8 Pro D8-MST2010 Radio Navigation System for Ford Mustang 2010-2014Along with the other con, you are gonna be spending $300 on a radio, which will put you close to $600 with adapters for the whole unit.

Coming in at $800 this is a complete unit with all the bells and whistles, such as carplay, bluetooth, and all the connectors. The only con I can find on this one is the price tag $800 just for a headunit is quite steep especially for being an android tablet.
3) The third option I would really like some feedback on is making a custom dash kit for a double din, my only question is what all would you need to make this happen? Adapters, ac controls, etc..?4) The fourth option I found as viable solution would be to go with the Grom USB adaption kit and getting the Bluetooth module.
I've seen a bunch of threads on here that praised this unit for its sound quality and integration with the stock radio, which if I were to go this route I would be purchasing an LC2 to go with this to add in some quality speakers. This biggest problem I have with this route is I was really looking for a way to have carplay on this dash so she doesn't have to use her phone for maps or to answer phone calls (since her steering wheel doesn't have any controls on it).
I would really like to get some feedback to help me with this decision, I'm open to any and all ideas.Along with the headunit, I'm look at installing speakers to go along with this.
