Put a deposit on a 2012 5.0!!!

Finally went down to the dealer today, and IMHO scored!! I was originally going with a 2012 Race Red cali special, manual, hid's, comfort package, and shaker 1000, but my salesman texted me earlier today and said we have another option that they just got in TODAY.

Its a 2012 Race Red Cali Special with an AUTO (yes I got auto again) and the comfort package!! Only thing I wish it has was the HID's, but I am going to add those later on or maybe the Raxiom projectors.

I think the auto was a much better choice FOR ME, being that its my daily driver 7 days a week, I live in a congested area and honestly would much rather the automatic than have a "chance" of the mt82 problems. I am pretty happy with the decision and now have a ton of parts to sell from the 2010 ;]

Congrats! I've had a 2011 6MT 5.0 and now have a 2012 6AT 5.0. The automatic could stand to shift a little more quickly, but in my opinion you made a great choice! I am very happy with my 6AT, and it is well-documented that the auto is as fast or faster than the 6MT in the 1/4 mile.

I STRONGLY recommend you install a set of Koni STR.T struts, possibly with some Steeda springs, but definitely gotta tighten up that damping, which the Konis do well.

Nice ride. If I ever went to a 5.0 or GT500 it would have to have Nav and Glass roof or it woldnt be worth the upgrade over what I already have.

PM me a price on your 2010 Stingers.

Thanks everyone!! Yeah I was looking on ebay and saw the factory hid headlamps were around $600-$900 so I may add them or may not add them, depends on if I feel like spending the money or not.

and hytek I know my name doesnt match the car lol, but atleast it will keep my 2010 in memory! It will ALWAYS remain as my FIRST car.

Double-edad -- yeah I think I will be happy with the auto as my DD. I really wanted a manual and loved it on the test drive, but I had an iffy feeling about doing that every single day in stop an go traffic and everything. If it was a toy/weekend car I wouldnt even consider the auto. Not sure if I am going to upgrade the suspension as I dont really have any twisty roads in my area, but if I do I will go with the Koni's and steeda sports like I almost did on my 2010.

Dmhines - PM sent

You're doing the smart thing here...and by the time it's out of warranty, you'll have something to look forward to. The stock tune is still a ton of fun and plenty fast.

Yeah, they sure screwed us. Wish we could go back to a 225 HP, 22 MPG 4.6 liter like in the good old days.

Thanks guys!! and 2012gtcs it is what I want. Dont get me wrong I agree 1000000% there is nothing like a manual transmission in a sports car, but the auto just fits my needs better.

And Kyle why couldnt it be like the 4.6's where they werent able to tell if you had the car tuned or not. If I blew the motor on my 2010 all I hadda do was rip everything off and put the stock tune in and say "o0o idk what happened, and its bone stock"

Its really is bullsh!t...... **** smart a$$ ford techs!!!! Or do we blame the people who blew up their cars and than returned it to stock and brought it into ford???

By the way found this cool video. The White roush is basically my car now (2010 with m90), and the 5.0 is BONE STOCK.

To the OP, just as another view on this, I think the regular headlights look better on the car than the HID's and I personally would not change them. To me they just look good and give the Mustang a Retro look.

I have an auto too and agree that in a lot of cases, it is a better option. Plus in my case, the wife can drive the car now as well if we stop for dinner and I have a few Miller Lites and need her to drive us home!!!

Good luck with the new Mustang. It looks great!!!

Regards,

Phil

PS...Check out JDM Engineering if you want a "safe" tune!

Aside from the questionable ethics you described, I'm happy Ford is producing motors much closer to their true stock capabilities instead of an underpowered motor needing the aftermarket to truly reach its potential. I know most of us always want to do more, more, more, but think about it - in 1998, the most powerful Mustang you could get was a 305 HP 4.6 DOHC. Other options were a 150 HP V6 and a 225 HP 4.6 SOHC in the GT. 13 years later, we have double that horsepower in the V6 (with much better gas mileage), 83% more power in the GT (and better gas mileage) and 80% more power with the 550 HP Shelby.

If I have to give up some modding under warranty ability, so be it. These ARE the good old days of performance and in 10 years, when we're on here trying to figure out how to get more power from our electric cars, we'll miss this conversation

GB GT: I have driven a 2010 coupe and I can say with certainty that while the 2012 spring rates may be similar, the 2012 coupe (& vert) suspension is not as well-damped as the 2010. So if you were on the borderline of going with Konis in your 2010, you will definitely notice the extra "floatiness" in the 2012 suspension.
