Pure looks...2013 SG MCA vs. PP

New to the forum, by the way. I'd love to hear some opinions on the looks of these two cars and which you guys prefer. I personally prefer the PP look, but my dealer is basically scaring me away from it because of slightly less gas mileage and "slippery" tires when compared to the MCA. Thanks!

If you prefer the PP, get it. The dealer may have a point, but I bet the mileage thing is minor and the tires, well they are temporary

Let me guess - he has an MCA on the lot and you'd have to order a PP car.....

depends what you want! if you're looking to really push the car, go with the PP. if not go with the MCA, especially if you think you would ever want aftermarket wheels as that is a good chunk of the PP. That said, the package is a great value in my opinion as you couldn't replicate it for $1995 in aftermarket parts.

you will see slightly lower highway mileage with the PP from the 3.31:1 gears (vs 2.73:1). The PP does have summer only tires, so you might need a set of winters depending on where you live. Honestly they are very similar in looks, so thats a wash. The PP will handle better too with the GT suspension.

Haha, no. He has neither on the lot, actually. He was just trying to be up-front with me. I would never take the car to the track, so I think he had that in mind when he was giving me the rundown on the two options.

Its a matter of taste, but I myself prefer the handling of having the PP.

This was supposed to be a pure looks thread, but I see it's turning to performance...you can read that much into my original post? Yes...I DO want a fast car. I want a powerful car. I can't afford the GT, so maybe I should go with the PP. Hmm...coming from a Jeep, the gas mileage doesn't really matter anyways. And I live in Georgia. We rarely have snow here. I would NEVER change the tires pending the season--is that a problem?

The summer tires are great for handling etc.. Only bad thing about the Summer tires are they do not have as long as tread life and are pricey. That said still IMHO I would go for the handling of the PP. I just picked up mine on Monday and OMG the car handles sweet..

You can put all-season tires on the PP rims, correct? I may just get the PP and slap on some all-seasons. Or would that ruin the handling advantage?

Can't swing both MCA and PP? I think the MCA bits look really good with the PP wheels. Glass Roof and Recaros and you'd have one nice car!

Not a bad suggestion. If I could get the MCA grille with the PP rims and a spoiler delete, I'd be set!

Suppose you don't want the higher price and limited selection compared to 18" wheels? It is the V6 after all. Looks: I like the looks of the PP wheels, and would choose it for that if that's the only criteria, esp. with SG.

Can't you get the PP with the MCA? Sorry, Canuck speaking, and our packages are quite different. e.g. you can only get the PP with the MCA pkg., not with the Pony pkg. I am choosing SG MCA with 3.31, which I know you can't in the U.S., instead of PP. I won't need 19s on this car, and our MCA pkg. includes some gray-finish Al 18" wheels anyways (I like the PP ones better).

And as far as looks go, I have to wonder what they were thinking in one respect: whatever the wheel size, this car won't look quite right until lowered. Maybe with some 20s and 80 profiles...

Like I said, pure looks they are very similar in the same color. The BIG differences are in the performance. You can pick up an MCA style grille from AM for pretty cheap if you decide to go with the PP.

I guess the question with a PP + MCA package is which grille would it take and which rims would it take? I'm assuming it would def have the performance gear of the PP, but not so sure what it would look like cosmetically.

I'm almost certain you can't get MCA & PP together as the MCA package is a grille and wheels...

I would agree based on my convos with the dealer. As he had said, must just be a Canadian thing.

Here you can get PP with MCA or plain Premium, just not with Pony. Hey, these packages* cost $2900 here, and include way more stuff...I should hope so compared to $900. So be careful looking at pics of Canadian cars with packages.

*Edit: I mean Pony or MCA, not the PP, cost that much
