Production Hold on Brembo cars
I owned mainly M3's and 3 series, an 01 M3, 04 M3, 03 325i, 05 X3 and now an 08 328i. The 5 and 7 series is the reason why BMW fell in quality surveys due to the iDrive. Most of the issues were due to this. The 3 series however has been bulletproof, all of them I owned.
Its just the last Mustang I owned that I bought new was a 1998 Mustang Cobra. Those cars are primitive compared to cars of today with the electronics on board and I had gremlin after gremlin with this car, along with a 99 Mercury cougar my wife was driving.
The issue I also had with Ford at the time is the dealerships I visited didn't really care wether they fixed the problem or not.
I personally feel the new Stang is going to be rock solid, these stangs platforms have been out now for almost 7 years.

yup. don't let that scare you dave. I'm sure I don't have to go in to detail about sample distributions and statistics. One sample simply cannot tell you enough.
As much as I hate relying it, JD associates and consumer reports data will be the best place to look. Make sure you read their fine print though...

umm 5.4 3v plugs do not shatter. they can break apart after a lot of miles when removed. fix is to remove them and replace with anti-sieze at low miles. but that is ALL 3v motors till they switched types of plugs.
It wasn't a mere "plug switch" either, a HEAD REVISION was required.
well on mine i had in my stang, i pulled the plugs and anti seized them and never another problem. they are still in the motor now.
ive had them out a few times to clean them

Holy shiitte...
You go me wondering about buying a Ford again. I had issues such as yours on my 98 Must. Cobra and I went with other makes and haven't been back since 08 when I bought a left over Ford Focus for a DD.
I know every make has horror stories but for the last 10 years its been 5 BMWs and 1 Porsche and 0 issues.

And as far as my own story, my '05 GT [first model year of design change] now is 5+ years old, has 52K miles, and has never had one single issue. Not even a minor issue. It's never been back to the dealer in fact. Best car I ever owned, easily. And I drive it hard (but smart), having been to 3 HPDE track days in the past 3 years.
Ford has probably made a good decision holding back the Brembo brake cars, even if they just suspect there may be a problem. Last thing they need is a recall.

Dave, my advice is to not let a few Internet stories sway you from buying a new Mustang, if you would have otherwise. There are just as many success stories out there. For one, Mustang GT has a "recommended" rating from Consumer Reports, who have been notoriously tough on American cars for years.

I actually liked the car though, it handled extremely well and had great steering feedback for a fwd car and when the car was running properly it was a ton of fun. I had some 2004 Focus SVT wheels on the car with 225/45/17 rubber on the car and it looked great.

I'm done with these uber expensive cars..I am in real estate and I am working 3 times as hard for half the money. The Porsche has become a severe burden and I still have a year left on the car, I love the car and thought this is a car I can grow old with but it may not be. I do realize you really don't have to spend that kind of money to enjoy the car you drive and the new Mustang GT looks like its going to be the M3 on a budget
. Don't mean to start the debate of IRS over an SRA but I do wish it had one, but from what I have been reading they really tamed the rear end from skipping. The only other car that I see for me would be an M3 but see above about uber expensive cars. I really don't want to spend more than $40k for a car anymore. If I don't get into a Mustang it would probably be a 335i or something along that route. Right now I really want a Mustang, my lease is up on my 08 BMW 328i. If I sell the Porsche and turn in the 328i and buy the Mustang its a savings of over $1100 per month. The company I work for was paying for the 997 (guaranteed with my credit) but they can't do it anymore and I am stuck with the car. I planned on buying it after the lease was up next year...now it doesn't seem it may happen.

V6 actually with a 5 spd. manual. It was my wifes car and right after we bought it she got pregnant. It was a leftover 99 model that we got for a great deal as the 2000's were almost done and they still had a 99. We didn't fare so well as far as things going wrong. It never stranded me or anything like that, but we had several issues. The Manifold Runner Control kept going out(issue with the 98 Cobra as well), the car ran out of warranty and after the 3rd time we didn't replace it so the secondary ports wouldn't open all the time and the car would just not want to rev. The airbag kept malfunctioning as well along with a bad catalytic converter which was replaced under warranty.

What's the latest update on this hold? My order is a Brembo car and I was told by customer service that my car was produced earlier this week and ready to ship. Does the hold impact all Brembo cars or just those still on the assembly line and orders not yet pulled?
Sounds as though the build dates are just suggestions, although if there was a hold I wouldn't have expected my order to be processed and scheduled during that period.
I don't know the mechanics of the scheduling process though, could be that the stickers keep churning out despite a hold being on.
What customer service did you call? your dealer or a Ford corp. number? My GT500 was "supposed to be built either yesterday or today (depending on how you read the window sticker).. I'm curious if it was or not.
I called the 800-392-3673 customer service number. They said the car was completed Tuesday and awaiting shipping.
