Pre-Paid phones work on SYNC?
Cool. A phone for me is a PITA, but since I'm shuckin' off the cable company, I may as well get something that works with SYNC, even though I'll prolly never use it.
You can tell how much I'm into phones as status symbols...I'm gonna get either a Tracfone or Cricket.

Depends on how many features you want to use with sync

I know they have to be bluetooth.[/quote
No problem with Tracfone. My wife and I both have Tracfones Synced with both our 2011 GT Stang and our 2011 Escape Limited.

Thanks for the info.
Now for some more technical ignorance......... does the SYNC system do navigation from blue-tooth commands even if you don't have the nav screen?

I'm not sure if you need a smart phone or not, but I know in my 2010 Focus (no touchscreen or GPS -- sold for a '12 stang order) I was able to do the following:
1.) Press SYNC button
2.) Say "Services"
3.) Say "Directions"
4.) Say "Pennsylvania"
5.) Say "Pittsburgh"
6.) Say "Walmart"
and the car would download directions to Walmart. Then on the small screen over the center console it would display the street name and an arrow for the direction of the upcoming turn. The best part was that I could listen to music and everything, and it would just jump in when a turn was incoming. Very unobtrusive.
Still not sure if you need a smartphone or not.
