power seat

power seat
Having trouble with power seat on the passenger side , it will move forward , and back . But it has stopped working moving up and down. The seat makes a grinding noise , that I take is the motor or gears stripped in it. My question is has anybody had a problem similar to this ? If so what is the best fix for this. My question is also is parts available to fix this.

It does sound like the gear on the adjuster is gone. There is a repair kit. You can do it yourself. And while I'm all for plagiarizing someone else's work, and I cannot be sure if this is kosher to do, there's just too good a write up on this subject, so I'm just linking it.

Mods, if I've broken a rule by linking that other forum, well... I mean, just look at it... You want me to retype and shuffle words and steal the pictures?
You'd have to do one kit per axis of adjustment. Front/back, tilt, and up/down. I'm almost of the opinion that if you gotta do one, you probably should at least think about doing them all.

/I got y'all beat, though, I bought a spare power seat rack waay back when from eBay, so when (yes 'when') my current one breaks, I can just lube up the 'new' one and bolt it in, and also fix this one, keeping a rotation going.

You gotta love the brainiac engineer who was sitting there with his coffee, and during designing the seat he thought to himself "****, this is a good idea! I can put a plastic gear on a metal screw gear, the weight saving alone will make up for it."
