powder coating

I have a kona blue 2011 mustang gt. dying for black wheels. does it look ghetto to just powder coat them?

Powder coating will always be less expensive than buying new wheels. If it were me, I'd buy a set of new takeoffs from someone, and have those powder coated. That way, you can still drive your car while the work is being done. Once you have them mounted on the car, sell your old ones, and you'll get your money back.
