Oddly enough it doesn't happen that much around here. And sadly I've never had anyone wanting to "play" on the autobahn.

Ask me if I care? So sorry that I'm a V8 guy.

Do I street race? No. I also believe it's stupid and childish. And ontop of that, I'm a survivor of a pretty bad car crash myself.

As for your comment about my name. Sure, Jamie is primarily a female name but I'm a man who wears it proudly and kicks *** for his country. US Army.

First off, Thank you for your service to this great Nation.

However, you came off as a major D-Bag...
V8 guy or not, respect is something that's always appreciated.

Glad your kicking @ss for our country because your sucking @ss in the forums.

As a soldier, you should know better than to insult a person for what they "don't" have, according to what you believe they "should" have.

Given the seriousness of the thread and the personal stories shared, Your haphazard comment about a "V6 not worth it" shows that you are are ignorant, insensitive, and ungrateful.

In addition, You being military is irrelevant and only a ploy to subvert that fact that you said something that was out of line. There are many military families in this forum and I'm one of them. (USAF)

Real men admit when they have insulted an innocent group of people by talking out of their @ss. Better yet, they learn to shut up if they don't have anything nice to say.

Well this thread got stupid really fast...

When I first got my car back in '04, I couldn't pull up to a light without someone trying to race me. Forward to a few years later...I couldn't even remember the last time someone tried to race me. I guess people just think..."Oh, some old V6. Why bother?" But now that I've done a few mods (it's crazy what some headlights and a $6 can of Plasti-Dip can do), I instantly had people trying to race me again, people asking if I got a new car, and people asking me if it's a 2012 or a 2013. That's just how little people actually know about cars. They see a Mustang that they don't recognize and think it must be the newest one. So, of course, they wanna race it and see how fast the new one is.

In 16 years of driving, 2 brand new GT's and a Vette it has only happened 3 times. Amazing that one was this week. Total D-bag ( not just for trying to race but because he had that D-bag pencil thin facial hair) in a new 335i. I laughed when he started revving on the freeway next to me and waved him by.
Why do these guys that try to race always have way weaker cars. Are they trying to feel bad they spent 10's of thousands more on a car that they wish was faster?

God bless the military for all that they do for our great country. Much appreciated in my family.

I'm also proud of my V6. If it were not for high gas prices and the fact I must travel 180 miles round trip each day, I'd most likely be a proud owner of a Boss 302, but I'm not.

never intended for this thread to turn ugly.

Blackmamba03, thanks for serving. Please stay safe, and I pray for you and all the service folks for a safe and healthy return home soon.

I dont get offers that often and when it does happen its from cars lik GT500's or Cadillac V-Series supercharged version, never a car that would be considered in my class. I dont street race especially in town i just laugh them guys off and usually when it is in town its from a ricer with a fart can or Truck. I cant say im totally innocent because ive raced a few cars on the interstate but ive never done it where there would be any harm done to anyone but myself.

Thank you for being at least half honest. So many guys on here have full bolt ons and a tune, but talk like they've never gone more than 5 over in their life.

I've street raced many times back in the day. I'll even do it now to a certain extent. Every once in a while on interstate if its free and clear. Red lights occasionally but not a full quarter mile type of run. Just blast somebody to 60-70 mph is enough. It's not like some F&F movie. Idiots who do it with traffic or unsafe roads should get every punishment they have coming to them. I wouldn't dare put someone else's life in potential harm just for my own enjoyment.

I'm a redneck, a supercharged v8 guy, and have served over ten years and counting in the military. I also have a giant sized manhood.

Agreed with this too. I have idiots all the time try to race in wet conditions and in traffic. I'll never do that. But on a dry day, with no cars around, I'll oblige up to a speed that I wouldn't have problems running at whether on a pull or not.

Well said! I think this post sums up how must of us arrived where we are now. We love cars and the moments of brief freedom and joy they give us. All things in life have risk but we try to reduce it and limit the risk to ourselves and others.

Having said that, I seldom get asked to race. What I do get is teenagers and little kids begging me to rev it at the stop lights. They cheer like it's a race. It makes me laugh because it often looks like I am revving a minivan.
